Every dutch cycletourist I've met seems to carry the most enormous amounts of gear. We met these guys this summer and they were typical. I live on top of a hill which is part of the national cycle network and regularly see dutch riders with touring with similarly laden bikes.
Just what are they haulin'? Gouda?

What do dutch cycletourists leave at home?
Nothing
When you live in the Netherlands and your bike on its own weighs 20+ kg then weight is irrelevant it appears. Touring around the netherlands I met a guy carrying a trackpump along with loads of kit. A couple with a tent big enough both their bikes went in and so on.
