Time has come to replace my 105 disc brake pads. I usually use Uber sintered on my Mtb and am happy with them. What is the usual wisdom for the road. Seems Uber I can get race matrix or sintered. Shimano resin or sintered. I assume they came with resin which have lasted 2 years (rears more worn than front it seems), but will have them out to check.
Shimano resin finned
I've always used kevlar in mine (well, and whatever came fitted originally), always find it's a good balance. Race Matrix I reckon would be good too- I hated them for hard use, so inconsistent, but for road bike use they'd probably be fine.
Shimano do a “new” resin which is much quieter than their old version. Apparently they last longer but haven’t noticed much difference. Quite a lot of brake dust though.
Resin every time for me - Sintered just howl.
Resin in mine - quiet, smooth braking and long lasting too.
Looks pretty unanimous then. Now off to find the best place to get some Shimano finned resin.
