Mavic Open Sport sturdier and cheaper than Open Pros.

Have you checked out Cotic's own wheelset?
http://cotic.co.uk/order/components/#wheels
I can't remember what the rims are though, ask Paul or Cy.

I'm just building up some old Hope hubs on Stans Arch 29ers for a similar purpose. They'll work for tyres down to 28mm and obviously suit something much wider. Light and robust!

I'd go for open pros over open sports any day - pros aren't any weaker IME.

LX hubs or above.

Well the Sports certainly should make stronger wheels, having more material including a couple of extra webs and hence being stiffer. It depends how bothered you are, but if you're more interested in strength than saving a few grams (which is after all the point of the Open Pro), then the Open Sport is better. Then again Mavic also do a disc specific A317. If it were me though I'd go for a Stans rim.

Two years on Open Pros on my Roadrat without issue, mostly on with some offroad.

I'd go for the Edge deep-profile carbon tubulars if I was you, to compliment the incredibly lightweight roadrat frame and fork. 😉

Open pro profile is deeper has stronger alu and is double-eyeletted?

Aim of open pro is light weight and strength is it not?

FAIL 😉
