Hello,
I've recently come into a £800 CTW voucher with which to get a new bike, and I've been looking at CX bikes. My LBS has a lovely looking Genesis CdF, which seems pretty much ideal, but has anybody seen any better deals about at the moment? Ideally, I'd like discs, and not carbon, but other than that, I'm not too fussy...
Cheers
Toby
Is it for racing or for general riding about, long way home type stuff? If the latter the Genesis looks a winner at that price.
Just for general riding around, with touring aspirations really. Not particularly after anything flash and carbon, and I've no aspirations to ever take up CX racing. It just looks painful!
It's the light blue version with Sora shifters.
For the money that looks good, only thing i'd want to change is the Sora shifters, the little nub to shift down is terrible, If you can live with that...
Shimano have fixed that on the 2013 shifters but this years is £899 (same as Boardman CX team) and i'm guessing you don't have that much.
Charge Filter or Apex:

I got the Apex a few weeks back when it was 50% off, but its still got a good chunk off.
Both look great, but I would be planning to take it off-road, so I think I'm stilling looking at cross bikes. Which is annoying because the spec is much better on both!
The Apex is a CX bike (well CX type its no race wippit same as the CDF), the Filter has the same frame/fork but comes stock with road tyres.
Taken mine off road a couple of times now, quite nice having the discs coming from a canti cx bike.
If it was my voucher i'd be hot footing it to Evans cycles for one of these
