Looking for a tarty seatclamp for a new build. Its A Genesis Altitude 853 Custom build. It takes a 27.2 Seatpost, but no idea what size clamp that means!?

Anybody know?

Cheers!

Because of the thickness of the metal, the clamp will be bigger than seatpost diameter. Really you need to go get your bike and measure it, or try Genesis's website for your bike's spec. Be accurate because they come in a ridiculous number of different sizes 😯

Edit: You are measuring the diameter across the metal of you bike's seat tube, including the metal. It will probably be between 30-31" for that size seat post.

27.2 is normally 31.8 clamp size on an alloy frame. I got an uber machined one off ebay with a Ti bolt for £9 posted, weighs 8g.

As it is a steel frame i would imagine its A 29.8 or 30.0mm you need.

I have a Salsa Flip Lock, nice - but I prefer the action on the Hope.

Hope do not do a 30.0mm clamp tho, so Salsa is your only bet for a tarty clamp....well unless you track down a Chromag one.

According to CRC Hope 30mm ones are coming in soon.

I bought a 2009 model, 30mm QR Hope seat clamp from CRC a month ago.
Having tired a variety of QR clamps to fit my RM Blizzard, this is the only one that does the job properly. Nicer lever shape than the older ones too.

Most steel framed bikes that take a 27.2mm post are 28.6 clamps, except for On-One and DMR who take a 29.8-30.0, just had this very conversation with Dave Mellor (I'm looking for a clamp for my 456 and will have to rob the one off my Pompino so I can ride it tomorrow cos they don't stock 30mm as it's 'non' standard).

My betting is that the Genesis is 28.6, there's a few Hope ones on ebay for 18 quid.

hmmm, actually I'm thinking it might be 30mm also, Cotic's seem to be as are Cove Handjobs and Saundersons and Salsa ala Cartes, but Soma's are 28.6.

Probably best giving Genesis a ring... 🙂

I keep getting different answers, I think your right Nick, might be worth giving genesis a ring. Ideally Id like a salsa clamp, but not sure they would do this size....
