I've decided that I want a Cotic BFe when the new ones arrive. I think i've decided on a single fromt rong setup (although I may change my mind again before I get my sticky mitts on a frame!) and so want a chainguide, can anyone recomend a light-weight, cheap(ish), simple chain guide that works well? Thanks.
e13 xcx
Or superstar XCR and spend the added £20 on beer
What's changing on the new BfE? The headtube?
I have a few MRP 1.X BB mount ones. They are a brilliant product and look nice too ;). The superstar BB one is ok - cheap and it works. The seat tube mount one is crap as it is held together with tiny grub screws that fall apart.
do you need protection for bashing rocks?
Went for superstar plasma here, running a bash ring 1 x 10.
I have used an Lg1+ a Gamut and a SSC plasma. The SSC was rubbish on my FS bike but fine on my wifes HT. The LG1+ and the P20 are both equilly good but the LG1+ has more adjustability and the P20 is simpler. If I bought another I would either go for another Gamut or give the straitline silent guide a go.
Not much point in a bashring on a hardtail as the BB's at a fixed height above the ground.
I've just bought a silentguide for my pitch and while it's not silent, it's not as bad as some rollers so definately worth looking at if you want a bash, especialy as it's lighter than a lot of chain devices that don't have a bash at all!
I got an E13 XCX & a mate got the MRP version.
I haven't dropped a chain.
I found the Blackspire Stinger wasn't reliable enough on its own so made this. It may look crude but it works, is cheap and lightweight.
