Something on special offer that's nickel plated. If you're a (cheap) tart like me.

Without wishing to be rude, I think you need to look at either your chain joining technique or how you change gears.
Havent snapped a chain for 5 years, last time was due to a very steep climb when all the lube had been washed off the chain.

Cheers bigyinn, On my other bikes I have no issues using the same technique both joining and changing gears and the gears are tuned a treat!

This leads me to a poor chain quality?

Also I hope you have checked your chain if it's 5 years old as it may be causing damage to your bike.

X9-93 for me, sturdy and comes with a powerlink.

(tried posh chains, but they mostly have a bit of a lack of metal in them, which can mean they don't stand up well to chainsuck- my X9SL went from almost brand new, to twisted wreckage, in the space of about 10 minutes.

so thats 9 speed all sorted...

What about 10 speed chains? I've just taken mine apart, then realised all the connecting bits have dropped down the cracks in my floorboards...doh...

they look much more expensive than the 9 speed variety..or at least I cant see any good deals..
