I've always bought aluminium bars but fancy a change and giving carbon a go.

What's the go to bar these days? I know most do a range of sweep and rise so that shouldn't be a problem.

I always used to end up with Easton Haven/Havoc (alu) but what else would people recommend?

I've used Easton carbon for the last 8 years, probably getting on for a dozen pairs. All faultless.

I'd forgot about Thomson making carbon bars.

Anyone got the fatbar lite in carbon?

I have the Fatbar in carbon but not the Fatbar lite. Very good, absorbs shock better than previous Haven alloy bars and shape very comfortable for me at 780mm and 10mm rise.

I've got a pair of unused Easton Haven carbon risers in the garage if you fancy them. I ended up fitting flat bars to my 29er.

Had a nuch of Eastons but they don't seem to have totally kept up with the wide thing... currently using Enve, Crank Bros and, er, Superstar.

Think if I was buying a bar today it'd be the RSP Ego tbh!

After trying many different brands (carbon) I'm very pleased with the feel / shape of the 760 Santa Cruz bars and comfortable as they seem to dampen out a good portion of trail buzz.

As northwind suggests - I got the RSP ego. Shiny finish isn't high on my list, but other than that it's faultless

Chaka, 20mm rise ideally.

Are the havens 711mm? I'm after 740/60 ideally.

Dipped my toe in the carbon waters with some On-One Knucklebars when they were on offer a while back. Good shape and sweep and hold my controls and grips in the right place. Saved about 50g over my previous aluminium bars IIRC. Went for the 'hard' option though, so no danger of damping any trail buzz!

Havens are 711, havoc are 750 (I might have that the wrong way round, but mine are all 750 now)

If 750mm is wide enough then these are brilliant...

Personally my favourite is Race Face SIXC, 785mm and low rise with a bit less sweep than some - which I like as my frame is a touch shorter than I would like.

I've also got a couple of sets of Superstar Lithium 780mm, which look and feel similar in quality to the other brands - though they are 25mm rise.

A pal has offered me another secondhand SIXC so I'll be selling one of the SS bars, email in profile if interested.

I'd disagree with your lady statement. Having ridden Knuckleballs back to back with Aluminium bars (Nukeproof and Raceface) the KB does take some buzz out IMHO. It's not as much as some lighter weight bars, sure, but they still do.
