Building a new frame up and want carbon rims.

Be running 2.2 tires on rigid forks in a sort of drop bar xc medium.

2*11 gears boost front and rear. ..... Got my eye on the bontrager kovee wheel set . Seems like a bargain way to get some light carbon rims..... Rims alone seem to be pricy. - need to add a 11speed freehub into the mix

The Chinese carbon options seem have gone to.the moon along with the exchange rate tanking.

Anyone seen any better options than the kovee ? - can wheel build if necessary

Silt? Seem like good value. You need to like loud hubs apparently

I bought mine used on eBay, you have to be careful not dinged to hell etc but good pic or video will tell you that and been v happy. About 50% of the street purchase price and allegedly ridden once, but look like it too.

I’ve just built up a set of Chris King on Nextie 29wide internal laced with CX rays all for a smidge over £800. 1.348kg. There are still deals to be had.

Just bought some kovee elite 30s from pedal on for a good discount. Still to install these but seem decent.

Word of warning they come with some chunky reusable rim strips installed. 65g each. To manage any disappointment If like me first thing you do is stick them on scales. I’ve binned the strip and just gonna tape them.

Once strips removed the actual weights match up to the claimed weight.

I had a look around for rims today as I really want a Dyno hub and once I rebuild a kovee with that and then change out the freehub for an 11speed....(95quid) .....it gets. Abit silly .

Found some nice rims . Then found I have to go to son to get a 28hole Dyno hub in boost. Shutter precision make them but ison don't bring the 28h boost into UK 🙁

i got some nobl wheels last spring. they have a sort of whale back profile where the rim is deeper at the spoke holes. they are noticeably smoother riding than the light bicycle 30mm 29er rims that i also have, which i always found pretty smooth.

so i’d recommend those. light bicycle do a similarly profiled rim.

Have a look at r2 bike, newmen hubs, cx Ray, ally rims coming in at 1400g. Alternatively go for Duke or Newmen carbon rims and knock 150-200g off.

Ended up with wtb czr i23 28 spoke 355grams and 260lb weight limit.... £189 a rim

A special order from ison sp pd8 in 15/110 boost black with 28 spokes
£180

A hope pro 4 in boost black in 28h
£170

And all 4 spoke lengths required to build are the same. - just got some old faithful workhorse DT Swiss dB in silver. -40 quid.

Under 800 all in for carbon rimmed Dyno hub. Won't be super light but that wasn't the remit.

Ive just had my second Hunt Mason X rim crack. Nothing too rough in terms of use. LBS said they see a ton of Hunt wheels aluminium wheels crack at spoke holes.

I’ll be ordering some JRA Gecko. They’ve been around since 2018 with solid reliability. Scribe are quite new and have stock issues, even now.
