I'm going to be replacing handlebars soon so thought I'd bite the bullet and replace the 10 year old cable inner and outers - gear and brakes. I have Dura ace ones on the road bike which feel great, but are they worth the £35 for a pair? What are the go-to cables which won't break the bank? it's got 105 gear and canti's

I use the basic Shimano, but my new bike has Jagwire and they compress less on the brakes I think as well as feeling uber smooth.

I put Jagwire sets on all my bikes.

I like the colours and the way they work.

I did used to have a thing for Nokon and Alligator i-link sets ,but I am over it now. 🙂

Thanks, Jagwire look ideal, I'll try to resist lairy colours though! Is there any appreciable difference between the elite, pro and sport?!

I can't be sure without checking but I think the expensive sets have more robust alloy cable ends that fit the frame and shifter points better.

Sport use slick stainless inners, pro have the polished stainless inners, elite has a continuous liner as well as the polished super smooth stainless inners and lighter xex housing.
Sport have sealed alloy cable ends.
Pro has cable ends with extended tube sticking out.
Elite has open ended ones to allow for the inner liner.
