29 front 2.5/2.6 tyre - 120-130mm fork
27.5 rear 2.8/3.0 tyre
165mm crankarms

What do you base it on?
29er frame? Resulting in a lower bb, but with long chainstays?
27.5 frame? Resulting in a high bb, but with short chainstays?

My short list so far.
Sonder Transmitter 27.5 (£300)
Dartmoor Primal 27.5 /Hornet 27.5/29 (£280)
OnOne Scandal 29 (£300)

Thoughts please?

I've got an unused XL Scandal frame with your name on it for £280, complete with headset, spare dropout and extra QR axle.

The orange clockwork frame in my loft that needs shifting?

Designed around 130mm 29er fork will take a 27.5 x 2.8/3.0 up the back end

The Transmitter is a bit narrow at the back. You will struggle to get a 2.8 in with any mud clearance.

I’d spend a bit more on the frame for something like a Chameleon or a Pace. The RC 627 will fit a 2.8 with the dropouts moved back a bit and you’ll also be able to fit a 29er with a 2.4 for less hardcore days. Or you could go for the RC 529 to get an even lower BB height.

I mulleted a Moxie, but it lacked grip on the front. Much improved with straight 29er. I think the problem is insufficient weight on the forks.

Could it be it made the moxie too slack?

I've mulleted my son's wee bike and it took the hta down to 65/66 on my phone app.
I found.it willing to corner alot more

i wouldn't have said your proposed configuration that radical in mullet terms even though there is a reasonable difference in OD between a 29er and a 27.5+. you'll want a 29er/27.5+ frame anyway. i'd be surprised if there are many 29er or 'straight' 27.5 frames around that will take a 2.8 comfortably.

FWIW I have a chameleon i'm likely going to try with a similar setup at some point just because i already have 29er and 27.5+ wheels/tyres.
