[Closed] What bike to keep on Greek Island.

Right, so my Dad lives in Greece for some of the year (on a bike shop free island). He has a couple of old trek hardtails. They are heavy and slow and he wants a more road focused bike. Initial thoughts- hybrid/road tyres, but the bikes have never been serviced in the last ten years or so, so prob need a complete overhaul.
They need to be able to go on roads and tracks and trails.
My initial thought - Islabike 29er. Simple, light, and only £450.

Can anyone think of any other options?

I suppose if we can get the bikes over here, could put rigid forks on and Deore groupo.
