Well before this week I'd never sold a bike, now I've sold all of them.

I had an old Giant trance I though wasn't worth much so thought I'd stick it on Facebook for £1100 and see what happens, 6 hours later and 11 people after it I sold it for £1000. I thought "that was easy" so I but my good bike up at a price that might tempt me and 1 day later its gone for asking price! Now I have no bikes haha

The Trance was sold to get a deposit for an ebike but the Capra was never really in the thinking of being sold, TBH it was opportune moment to try something new and maybe less travel if I got the right price. It was also a chance to get rid of all the parts I didn't need that came stock.

So I'm looking frame only as I already have Wheels, Cranks, Cassette, Dropper, Seat and Bash Guard.

Basically on the lookout for a shorter travel enduro frame 140ish rear with 29er wheels, god knows what category that comes under now? is it All Mountain, Downduro or would that be Upduro, god knows.

I was looking at the Pace RC295 but they seem to get a bad rap on here. The RC295 has similar numbers to the Capra but less travel.

Hit me with some suggestions. Budget is £1500ish for the frame and shock.

Jeffsy 29er.

If I hadn't just had a YT and it was frame only I might have considered it.

I dunno if you can get many frame & shock deals for that kind of cash now really.

Get yourself something totally different for a bit until the new bikes come out in September.

Dirt jump bikes

Road bike

Gravel bike

BMX

Long forked hardtail

I think I might in the future buy a bike in the sale with a great frame and basic build then fit invisiframe tape, replace all the components that matter like the dropper post, brakes, groupset, forks and wheels. Use the bike for a year then swap the components back whip off the frame tape then sell it for not a huge loss. Buy another and repeat.

Good idea? Must be better than my normal regime of buyimg a bike with a good frame and good spec, keep it for 4-5 years whilst replacing everything on it then sell it for Peanuts.

Evil Offering.

Might need to stretch your budget a bit, but it's worth it I can promise!

Cotic, Bird, Commencal etc. all do, I'm sure there must be more.

I'm after recommendations though, the usual I've got this bike etc. or my mates got this, or I've been looking at that.

If you do think of stretching the budget to Evil levels, might I recommend the Deviate Highlander.

I've got a road bike but didn't think that counted on here 😂

Yeah, that's sort of how it worked out for me. I was able to say this brand new and so is that etc. and used bits to upsell it like Wheels MFG BB, Hope headset and some PSA carbon cranks from ages ago.

Budgets can change if I get my heart set on something.

Basically just recommend whatever.

OK, I thought Cotic were north of £2k these days, but it seems I was wrong.
The Flaremax is not unreasonably priced and the mk2 rides very well so I'd assume the mk3 is at least as good.

Orange Stage 5 probably over budget? That would be a fantastic all-rounder, if you like single pivots.

On the subject of which, Starling were doing deals on their factory Murmur - but that may be done now.

The Commencal Meta is suprisingly good value, eh?

What was the spec/year/condition of the trance can I ask?

I'm thinking of selling mine so would be interested to know what it's worth.

Yeah, I thought that. Seems like I'd be right in between a M and L.

All sorts of want for one of them, or a Forbidden Druid.

The new (yet to be released) Aether 9c might just be worth waiting for...

Well, in that case...

Anyone got a SHAN Nº5 – 2019 037 Limited Edition? Comes in at £1600 with a shock. Worth it for the paint job? Although I'm sort of in between sizes again.

I emailed Bird asking about this before the fella arrived this morning and got this reponse.

Do you mean the Aether 9C? We're expecting size ML production frames here in July 🙂

Stand by for more details, we are working on it.

Bird AM9 is only 150/150 I thought it was more than that. Am9 with a coil is £1454, that's not bad.

It may come down to what you can lay your hands on in the right size right now (or how long you're prepared to wait). Ripmo AF is worth a look - everyone who rides one seems to rate them.

Sorry @tpbiker I missed your question!

It was a a 2015 Trance SX and I put it up for £1100 and got £1000, I thought it was worth about £600 TBH. Sold through Facebook in half a day! I must have had 15 people after it.
