Colleague at work was asking me about bike racks. Him & his Mrs have 2 hybrids they want to carry on their 07 (ish) Golf, He doesn't have a towbar & was asking about rear (hatch) mounted ones but do they still mark the paintwork or has someone invented an idea that doesn't?
Roof rack maybe?

holy thread resurection!

Just got a mkVI Golf hatch and I'm weighing up my options. I'd prefer to go down the towbar route but this might prove a little costly for the 5 or 6 bike trips a year it's likely to get used for.

If I use a Saris - do i need any extra wiring for a lighting board?

Thule Clip On High back window mount as opposed to one with straps that need tensioning, they usually come loose.... Less affected by crosswinds than roof mount ones.

Protect car paint with foliatec stick on plastic.

Just check the auto rear window wipe in reverse gear.
