Hello,
I need a new frame.
We are going touring on the MTBs in the summer and so need a hardtail frame which has rack mounts.
I want to move the bits over from my existing frame, then move back when we return.
The frame must therefore be cheaply available second hand (sub £200 ideally)
Material doesn't matter but guessing not many carbon ones at that price or with rack mounts so steel is likely.
It must:
be for 26" wheels
have 1 1/8" straight steerer
have disc mounts
fit a conventional (ie not integrated) headset
Ideally take a 27.2mm seatpost, English thread BB and a clamp, rather than direct-mount, front mech but I could buy a new mech, BB and post if I really had to.
.
Genesis Latitude looks likely. Anything else to consider?
.
Probably a 17"ish frame if anyone is selling?
.
Cheers

Had one of the old Magnesium Killis years ago, lovely bike.
Just googled the new one, no rack mounts I'm afraid so that's a no-no I'm afraid.

Genesis Altitude would be well in budget - but some of the Reynolds 853 frames don't have the rack mounts. If the frame has mudguard eyes you can always use a Salsa Rack Lock

It fits all criteria you require for £199 brand new.

Yup, Inbred fits the bill with mounts as standard, chuck on a surly fork with braze-ons. Plenty second hand and tough too.

My dad has a Look Mi60 retro MTB with modernish Deore drivetrain, which apart from the discs fits your criteria. Full bike in VVGC less than £200

Dont get hung up on the straight steerer - you can convert to a taper headtube easily enough, unless you really object to buying a new headset lower.
