Having sorted through my finances I can afford a new bike yeh!! Downside this has to be my last for at least 5 years, which isn’t too bad!
Bikes I would like are out of my price bracket Orange 4 being one? So with that I’m mind any recommendations? Current bike is a fuse which I love riding and I have a neglected camber.
My thoughts are a fuel ex 8 plus, slightly over budget but comes with plenty of travel and plus tyres or a new specialized stumpy in 29er as I have boost plus wheels on my fuse.
Generally ride Cannock, glentress twice a year, welsh trail centres once a month.
Any recommendations?

Still over budget but only only a little bit........
Having just bought one and loving it an Airdrop Edit
I have a Orange Four I was trying to sell, was going to split it and keep the bits for another build but I haven’t done it yet. Link here,

Could do a deal if you were interested?

Bird in whatever flavour that suits. VFM pricing means it’ll be a decent spec for your budget and you should stay with current standards, for a while anyway.
Canyon Spectral/YT Jeffsy are two obvious choices as well. Or if you want a more XC focussed bike, Canyon do a shorter travel one (can't remember the name of it).
In true suggest what you ride style: my Orbea Occam AM is lush, there is a model just over and just under 2.5k. There is also the TR version which is a bit more pedally.
Having moved from a Remedy 29er to a Bird AM9 29er, I'd recommend any of the Bird range.
Another shout out for the Airdrop Edit or a Bird.
Had a look at the new stumpjumpers today, out of my price range but they fit the bill will take a plus tyre, already boost’ed front and rear end, the st model in carbon looks perfect for my needs and fits perfectly when sat on the bike. Even offered to take my fuse and camber and let me keep my plus wheels to get the bike under budget, very tempted!
I’m in the same boat as you but want to keep the travel around 130mm or less as I’ve got a 150mm specialized pitch currently. I’ve ended up deciding on a bird aeris 120 and am likely putting an order in for one later this week.
