I live on edge of the Peaks.

I would like a bike that I can ride from my house on roads, canal tow paths and bridleways into Peaks.. then ride a bit more of the rough stuff in the Peaks and then come back.

Is that a cross or gravel type bike?

Any recommendations?

Needs to be on a tight budget because I'll still be riding my other bike for proper MTB duties and not going to spend loads on a bike that'll not see alot of use.

Any help appreciated.

Edit; Purpose is for munching miles and fitness. Won't be seeking out particularly technical terrain on it.

Cheers..

and your budget is?
what bikes have you got already?
depends on how much of the rough stuff you want to cover. Immdiate suggestion would be a 29er HT with skinnyish tyres.

I already ride a hardtail - since the bike would get used once every couple of weeks I know I'll not want to keep changing tyres.

Budget? Second hand under £500?

I have a feeling this isn't going to go as I planned. 😀

I would agree, just use the hardtail. It will do all of the above.

let's face it Op, you've got an N+1 itch and you've come on here looking for justification for spending some dosh on a new bike. Well then of course you need a new bike defo. Why not do as I do and spend a month researching and prevaricating and then in the end not bother.... 🙂

Get this one and put some knobbly tyres on it.

I have the RL2 as a result of an insurance replacement, and can't believe how much I like it.

Fatbike! 😉 Comfy on the towpath sections and it'll keep you fit on the road sections 😆
