Looking for a (road)bike computer, what's good value? Can buy used, on a budget!

Needs to be have

- Power display from a Stages III powermeter
- GPS for speed and maps
- Heart rate display from a Polar H10 strap

Alternatively, a phone mount and app that can show all of the above! Phone is Pixel 3 xl.

Garmin 520 or 530. With the 520 (not the plus version) you are limited in the area of maps that can be loaded onto the unit but just how much you can load depends on where you live - there's room for most of Scotland or Wales for example but you'll only get half of the north of England. The 520 Plus and the 530 have more memory so can load the entire country.

Create and load a tcx track and you'll get turn by turn notifications pop up on screen: turn left in 150m etc.

Similar to beauty: good value is in the wallet of the purchaser. 😉

Garmin 520 plus is £147 here, not too shabby! Still there are phone apps that can do all of the above right? At the expense of some aero gains (lol) and poor battery life.

Could get the quadlock kit, but as expensive as getting a 520 plus nearly, and don't want to chunk up my phone..

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather keep my phone for, well you know being a phone. When I've used it simply for logging rides it's sucked power like it's going out of fashion. Never used it for nav on the bike. Plus I'd rather have a £200 dedicated GPS unit out front that can take knocks in a crash than a £500 phone that can't.

Your choice of course.

Yeah I'm not going to do the phone thing, could be ok for occasional use but a PITA if using it a lot I reckon.

So Garmin 520 plus then?

Ordered the Garmin 520 plus for £143 shipped, see it comes with a mount too not bad!

2 years without a lowers service.

Unless you are a very occasional user, riding in non muddy and non dusty conditions, it's almost certain your forks are either dry, close to dry, buggered or just not working as well as they were designed to.

In 2 years I'd expect to have serviced my lowers 6 times, and I know that's not up to the standard of the recommended service intervals.
