Seeing as this MTB hobby is akin to setting fire to £20 notes, I'm looking for an economical bearing press kit.

There's stuff on Ali and Amazon, but I can't trust the reviews on those sites.

Something that will cover wheel/freehub bearings... maybe pivot bearings on Trigger's Broom in future.

The MTB BB is threaded thank goodness, and the gravel bike is still on its original BB after 4500 miles so I'm less likely to need to press/extract BB bearings.

I just buy what I need as I need it from bearing pro tools.

I have handles from bsc.

RRP then only buy the adapters you need.

I have one of those eBay ones, works as intended, loads of sizes included, reasonably priced.  Used for wheels and pivots, saved plenty of money on servicing.

I tend to bodge a screw out extractor, get a socket etc etc that “fits” the outer bearing wall, bolt thru that then get some wood/ rubber, inner tube etc etc / bigger socket braced against frame on pulling side, then wind the bearing out by doing up the bolt

from eBay etc you can get bearing press kits with plates for most common bearing size and a winder

Extraction? You get sets of press and extraction adapters for the RRP kit. The only thing you might then need is the odd blind bearing puller.

Thanks for the replies. I went with the eBay kit to get started - works well. Certainly will be looking at a puller/extractor kit to avoid tapping faff (and risk?) again.
