I have some separate hip type undershorts I will wear for downhill/uplift use (and skiing) but don't want the extra bulk and more so extra heat/sweat for trail riding
Whats out there with some thigh/hip padding built into a baggy short for trail riding, comfortable for pedalling up in?
I know someone who had some old TLD's with removable side pads
I think they were troy lee moto shorts with a removable thigh side pads. the newer revamped moto short doesn't mention padding on the TLD website description?
Am I limited to separate undershort type thigh/hip pads and go for one with a proper chamois pad in? Thereby removing the need for my usual bibshorts, though at the risk of a lesser chamois?
though more limited in padding than a TLD, the endura MT500 one might have a better chamois? Or am I making massive assumptions there?
I have some of these to wear under my normal shorts, whcih don't have a liner :

hip padding and a chamois.
Not tried them, but the Poc Resistance Strong shorts have bits of VPD built in..
RF Flank are unobtrusive for pedalling in https://www.cyclesolutions.co.uk/p85913/race-face-flank-liner-protective-under-shorts. They're still a bit padded even with the D30 stuff removed. Good chamois as well
Newer Motos are crap for pedalling in. The material is really stiff, noisy and cardboardy
