What are we doing about servicing Ascend Droppers these days?

I've got a 170mm ascend internal on the big bike which is very hard to push in when pressure isn't applied perfectly straight in to the dropper itself. Returns completely fine. A grease might temporarily fix it but I suspect the bushing in the collar is worn and I'd like to replace it.

In previous times I'd get one of those £10 service kits off chiggle but I can't find these anywhere any more. I was under the impression these are something more generic rebadged but can't find anything convincing.

Does anyone know if these service kits are still available under a different name? I'm loathed to have to bin it and buy a OneUp if I can avoid it...

There's a limited selection of service parts on ebay, You could always try Evans if you know the part number they might have it in their inventory even if it's not on the site?

If you're going to bin it, drop me a message, mines failed in a different way so I need  a working-ish one to cannibalize for parts.

Keep an eye on the evans site too, they seem to be going through the CRC stock and listing it a bit at a time, I picked up a new 170mm dropper for £72.

Try here - https://ascendcomponents.com/collections/dropper-seatpost-spares

Just bought a new horizon v2 freehub and great service. Think they are ex CRC staff.

Thanks for the Ascend components rec. I've just been emailing them, I've got a 200mm dropper with a knackered cartridge I haven't been able to bring myself to chuck. It was only a few hours old. They reckon they'll have new cartridges in next week. Definitely worth a look.

Glad it was of use. There are loads of crc brands and kit in use, so helpful that they are keeping stuff going with spares etc.

Ascend components seem to be the most likely - they say they should get stock on Monday. Thanks for the heads up on that one, glad i should be able to resurrect it!

I bought 3 replacement cartridge kits when they were on for £1 (during the end of Chiggle).

I imagine a fair number of the spares on eBay now have a similar hoarder behind the sales.

Same for me, arrived and serviced yesterday 🙂

What grease should I be using? I used SRAM butter because it's light and I had a little bit left in an old pot.
