Tip find frameset & most parts, vintage Reynolds 531 GA Cycles, what's the weird brake on it? Kind of like early canti brakes that have 2 cables going into a single one on the top tube. I'd quite like to restore the bike but the brake blocks are pretty perished, really long ones with 2 holding bolts on each. Pretty unlikely to find now I assume so is there someone who makes new rubber blocks by coppying existing? Cheers

I bet you can get some blank pads for that and shape the dead easy.

Edit more info  http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/components/resilion-story.html

Remember take them off and go fixed for winter.

The pads look surprisingly modern !

Never seen that type of brake, great find!

Where did you find it if you don't mind me asking?

Sticking out of the metal skip at our local tip poopscoop. Fortunately we can buy stuff there, I know you can't at some places, '4 quid mate' etc

Rod brakes?

There's a few vintage bicycle groups on Facebook. Try "Vintage Bicycles UK" group page.

4 quid lol. What a ridiculous price, in a good way of course.

Resilion cantis. I made a set of modern canto blocks fit but you can occasionally buy proper ones. Ask on retrobike.com

<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">Really? Great find!</span>

Wish all recycling centres would do that, sell stuff I mean! It is pure recycling as it should be. See loads of good salvageable bikes at my tip. Always sad to see them dumped. 🙁

My local place won't sell anything but will do you a favour in exchange for a box of teabags and some sugar* if you ask nice.

* the granulated kind, not as in "gimme some sugar baby".

You'll be looking at 27inch rims mind not 700c.

Mine Resilions also came from the tip. It was a case of rubbish out of one door and the pre war Dawes in the other though while no one noticed.
