Standard steel radial
Ceramic radial
Angular contact
I can understand that the ceramic might give some short term advantages in spinning resistance over standard, but once the dirt gets in the races this advantage is soon lost.
What about angular contact bearings that Wheels Manufacturing offer. They rely upon some lateral force from the wavy washers to keep things compressed and running well. For the extra cash do they offer any advantages? Maybe they resist the eccentric forces of stomping on the pedals better? If the lateral compressive force is insufficient do they just fall to bits.
