I've 2 pairs of coil u-turns. great on big hits but not so good on fast chatery stuff. the damping, even when set to its fastest, is a bit heavy for that stuff. Fox 36 are usually buttery smooth on that stuff....but cost considerably more.
BTW I managed to pick up both my sets of lyriks, new, at cosiderably under rrp. £530 ish for one set and £388 for the second set!

Don't claim to know which are the best but I love my BOS Devilles.

If I thought I could get away with fixed length I'd be all over a set of Devilles. As it is, I'll stick to my Lyriks. Shame they can't roll the mission control damper out to more forks, it's class- and so easy to use.

That said, it should go without saying that 2-step air is the devil's own spring.

Neilnevill, the 'dh' damped lyriks seem better than the standard versions for high speed chatter. I'd still chose a standard lyrik over a van 36 anyway, performance is so close but damping adjustment is a bit more useable, price is lower and most importantly they wear significantly better in uk conditions.

Ah yeah, I always forget that- mine have the lockout removed, and it does make a noticable difference, not quite the same as the MCDH but very close. Made about the same difference to small-bump response as going from air to coil did in mine, which really surprised me. (then again the Lyrik air springs are very good when they're not exploding)

yeah I think the lyriks are better value....i went back for a second pair a year after getting the first....but the £388 price tag helped!

I've heard removing the launch control/lock out helps. Supposed to be easy and reversible isn't it? I kindo of like the lock out for climbing though. I was thinking of just putting some thinner oil in, say some 5wt. Anyone tried it?

neilnevill - Yes and Yes!

Floodgate mod is simple, and 5wt makes a massive difference. You will need to apply more rebound though as its the same fluid for both rebound and compression.

I have also done the "Boxxer" mod, i.e. swapped out the inner oil seals for foam rings. TFT reccomended it and will supply the 35mm rings required, and I must say it makes a big difference. But be sure up those service intervals!

Not tried Lyriks but my 36 Van RCs are ace. No way I'd be buying them at current prices though.

Not sure on retail cost as I got mine at trade, probably about £80 ish, I'm sure Loco, TF or any Rock Shox dealer could sort you out.
Just fitted the the dual flow rebound cartridge as well to complement MCDH cartridge...

Lyrik coils running DH damper, awesome.

Not totally bomproof but very basic to service and repair yourself. An oil change in lowers every 6 months or so and they are champion.

Love my Van36 RC2s, but not sure i'd be up for paying the current asking price. BOS prices look more reasonable every year.

Marz 55RC3Ti. 3yr warranty with no service stipulation unlike Fox every 5 minutes.
Big fan of solo air lyriks with the lockout removed but picked up some 2010 marz half price from wiggle (despite being identical to 2011 and poss 2012 due to 3 yr product cycle) and hoping they gel with my coil rear.
Best depends on what you pay, some serious bargain lyriks mentioned above, and marz @ 450 look far more attractive than at retail of 900...

My 36 vans and talas have significantly outlasted my coil lyriks with similar servicing and use.

Would like a go on some BOS forks.

I got put of 'zocchi after owning a set of AMSLs....back to WW for a damper fault, back again for a ETA cartridge failure...failed again and...give up. If 'zocchi are reliable again the I'm sure they are great though.
