DT swiss fr500 rim on hopes or pacenti DL31 rim on superstar hubs perhaps -

I'm yet to see a Pacenti that didn't have dents like dinosaur bites in it, they seem to be pretty soft.

£450 would buy a pair of chinese carbon rims, and a used set of somethingorothers on DT240 hubs- service the hubs, buy new spokes, get local wheel genius to build wheels. Cross fingers 😉

Crossmax SX, the previous model with grey rims and white hubs, secondhand (£300 or less).

Amazing wheels and absoluely bombproof yet still light enough for XC.

What, you don't want them cheap, strong, light and round?

Bike discount de have taken my order for a set of 2012 Crossmax SX like you in repalcement of my stock Hope Pro 2 and En321 wheelset off my 5AM.
I also have a set of Fulcrum Red Zone on it at the moment used once. Nice and light but they will be going on my hardtail once i have my mate fabricate a 12mm tapering to 10mm rear axle.
From Bike discount de £519 for the Crossmax in new white colourway and graphics!!

The Flow rims on my Hoops were wrecked after a couple of years so I replaced the rims with the light-bicycle carbon rims. I wrecked the rear but a warranty replacement is ready to go on, and my next rims will be the same when I decide what wheel size to go for. They feel great and lasted well... even when cracked.

American classic all mountain might come in at that budget if you shop around. I don't know many who ride their hubs but those that do seem fairly happy and I like the look of the rim profile.
