I've been told by the insurers that my nicked CAAD10 disc will be paid out in full so I have 3200 euros to replace it. I'd like something that can take bigger tyres but still is moderately useful as a "normal" road bike. Happy to lob a bit of extra cash in but not more than a few hundred Stuff I'm considering:

Norco Search XR

Kinesis Tripster AT

Reilly Gradient

Orbea Terra

Fairlight Strael 2 or their forthcoming bike which might take bigger tyres

... help!

I'd have Shand Stooshie, Genesis Croix de Fer Ti , Jamis Renegade Elite  and the Mason Bokeh on my list too.

the  Genesis Croix de Fer Ti is lovely... except... 3.5k with 105 shifters. Can't get past how fugly they are. I've tried, believe me, but I couldn't own a bike with them on.

I'd add Mason Bokeh - I guess you have to get a complete as its replacement? I built my Tripster ATR for under that and it ticks every box for me.

No, it can be parts, they're just sending me the cash. Its why the Tripster AT is on the list really. For my budget I could build it with SRAM ETap.

They come in so many flavours it would be easy to list loads of fairly expensive bikes but probably worth narrowing down requirements before shortlisting?

what max width tyres do you want to fit in there?

What kind of terrain bias?  road bias?  offroad bias?

Suitable for around the world, weeks in the saddle, stable load-lugging or short, faster, lighter bikepacking and CX-style jaunts?

Favourite frame material or doesnt matter?

They've just added a Force version of the Mason Bokeh to the site which would suit me better ymmv.

If only Hope would hurry up and release those hydro cross-top levers!

That would be my 'don't think about it too much' purchase.

For something different, I'd look at the Lauf True Grit

No specific suggestions but maybe a frame/forks that can also take the new(ish) road+ wheels then you can go from 700x28c all the way to 622x45c depending on what you want to ride at the time.

Malvern - tyres not sure, 32 or larger for sure. It'll be used probably 90% road, 10% offroad. It'll get some use as a week long credit-card bikepacking bike (so not massive piles of kit to carry) but most usage will be as a regular road/bit of dirt sort of bike. Frame material, don't really care.

A company posted on the Dirty Reiver facebook group selling of their fleet of hardly used 3T Exploros.

I reckon a team should be under budget.

I'd be having a look at a Reilly Gradient F+F?  Full build review here:

TheOtherJamie - I don't have a facebook login (odd but true) and won't get one just for this but what company is selling the Exploro bikes?

Genesis Datum? Loving mine, no slouch on the road but will take to the forest / winter potholed roads happily. Would consider self build if you can get the frame for a decent price as stock wheels a bit heavy. (And arguably frame is a little chubby for carbon but rides beautifully).

I love the Strael but I wouldn't call it an adventure bike

Really enjoying my Reilly Gradient, I went with Frame and Forks an built it up myself, that way you can get a build you want within your budget.

Mark was great to deal with and quick to sort out the issue I had with my frame (it arrived with braze on for cables and I was going with Di2, 48 hours later is was back without braze on's and drilled for Di2).....

I love my Datum - looked at similar options  and tried a few out.  Had a good deal locally on a Datum 30 and I’m so pleased with it.

running it with full mudguards at the moment which a nice bonus in winter

Moonglu cycles have just posted a custom build on Instagram which looks the business.

I made the mistake of contacting the guy who made a show winning bike at NAHBS. It’s more than I want to spend but for custom Ti it’s as cheap as some Off the shelf Ti framesets

New bowman pilgrims looks rather nice. Don't actually know much about it as yet admittedly, only went public at the London bike show.

Bombtrack Hook EXT

There’s another manuf called Wey or similar.   Always forget their name but apparently they make excellent adventure bikes in that price bracket.

FTR I absolutely love my Whyte Friston.  The Gisburn is a little higher spec for IRO £2000.
