Looks like the 819's that came with the frameset are a bit oval and might need replacing. The easy option is to get another pair of 819s but is there anything else to look at? Just general all round riding bit of trail centre, bit of welsh hills, nothing too lairy.

"What, all round tubeless rims?!"

Yep, partially round ones tend not to work as well for some reason.

xc - stans crest
xc, occasional drops and rough stuff - stans arch
ragging it - stans flow

anything else I can help with?

100% agree with nosedive, I can't see myself going back to Mavic rims for a while 🙂

There's no case for buying 819s unless the £10 difference is importance- Flows are lighter, stronger and wider. And though some people think the rim tape is a problem, in practice they work no different from 819s. I own both, and the 819s are just outclassed. Suppose it's not surprising considering what an old design it is, Mavic know their market and know they don't really need to be competitive to sell IMO.

But Flows are probably overkill for most people, not many trail rims win DH world cups 😉 Arch or maybe even lighter would probably do you. The weight penalty for FLows isn't terrible though, I don't mind carrying it around for the peace of mind and the flexibility to go and rag dh routes with them rather than having to change to my 721s.

Yawwwwwwn! Sorry nothing to do with the original post but my god, like a broken record...
Waxing lyrical about the DH world cup wins on the strength of Sabrina Jonnier using them is such a weak arguement. I mean they're so fantastic and well suited that her Maxxis Rocky Mountain teammates RC and MS both use them too...oh wait...no they don't.

You certainly talk a good game NW! But maybe if you actually did rag DH routes you'd go back to your 721's.

At nearly 14 st, I've never had problems with arch or crest, with most riding in the lakes and Scotland. Easier to set up than mavic too. Hope this opinion is permitted neallyman.
