So I’ve changed my bars from some Joystick Analog Carbon 30mm rise to a set of Renthal 10mm rise, and it’s totally changed the ride.
I’ve got an Orange Four that hasn’t been doing it for me at all, almost to the point That I was thinking of selling it,so have changed the front tyre and swapped out the bars it it feels spot on, more aggressive seating position. I am know a vey happy boy who can’t wait to get out on it again!

Just wanted to hear if something you’ve done to your bike has had such a big difference.

Taking off a bloody hideous Renthal stem and fitting a normal looking one.

Going from 10mm rise bars to 35mm rise bars changed my chameleon for the better for me.

Haha.

Similar: my Bossnut V2 has now a 150 mm fork instead of the original 130 mm fork.

Had to change the stem to be able to put some load onto the front wheel. From 45 mm stem to 60 mm and moved the saddle 15 mm to the front as well (and don't put spacer "under the stem").

Everything is perfect again!

Especially for full suspenion bikes: the "balance" is critical. 10 mm or so make a huge difference!

80mm stem/750 bars to 70mm stem/780mm bars on Slackline. Gamechanger!

Yes these things make a big difference. Modern bikes seem to Mage these things harder to achieve. But such is progress

simply lowering your bars 17mm and tilting your saddle 1deg would have been a better/cheaper/easieer option Andreas

It’s gone from being a bike I wasn’t happy at all with to a bike I can’t wait to take out !
And it’s all my fault for messing about with different bars and rise lengths.
Oh well we live and learn !

I put an extra 4 psi in my tyres and a couple of tokens in my Mattocks. Had a crashathon BPW. Turns out I had quite a good set up beforehand.

Moving a 10mm spacer from above to under the stem. Maybe it's placebo but things feel more effortless, quite bizarre.

It's not bizarre at all. Small changes do make a difference. Small but noticeable.

I'm constantly tweaking bike position, improving all the time. Constant, because my bike tastes vary and there are loads of variables, and when I change one bike it makes the others feel like they need changing too.

Yes it's very bizarre to me as I didn't expect a 10mm bar rise to have such a disproportional effect. Maybe I should have said "surprising" or "unexpected" to satisfy semantic precision.

I moved from a 5mm spacer to a 10mm spacer under the stem, and I can't really notice any difference (it was to fit a macride)

But I'm not surprised 10 or 20mm could make a difference to things.

I notice the tiniest things - it's really annoying at times! For instance, I swapped my stem and bars across from one bike to another, replacing a 45mm stem with 6 deg rise and and 770mm bars with 27mm rise and 6 deg up, 8 deg back sweep, with a 50mm zero size stem and 770mm bars with 40mm rise and 5 deg up, 7 deg back sweep. I put the stem 5mm lower on the steerer when I did the change.

According to the maths I've just attempted to do, with neutral bar roll that puts the grips at the same height but 10mm further forwards. Whatever it was, the steering felt too much like a tiller, like the stem was too long.

I then adjusted the roll on the bars by between 5 and 10 deg (hard to be sure how much because the RaceFace stem deg markings don't line up with the arbitrary Renthal bar markings). And then the steering felt great, slightly more stable than before but still nice and direct. At the most that's less than a 10mm change in hand position, probably close to only 5mm.
