I can't believe I'm asking this but I'm really stumped as I need to get one but can't decide on one.

I'm after a 60mm stem for use with normal size bars (or oversize) - can anyone recommend one? I'd love a Thomson but budget and the fact they don't do 60mm sort of rules that out

I'm quite happy with my Truvativ AKA...

Only paid £25 for mine off the classifieds, why not see who's got what 60mm stems to offload over there?

Gusset Staff is perfect, it's an OS stem but comes with spacers for a 25.4mm if you want, very strong, nice to look at... Quite high stack though, 45mm IIRC. Very happy with mine, it doesn't look or perform like a £25 stem and even came with a choice of colours for the faceplate.

Also got a Truvativ AKA, which is really the same sort of thing only heavier, and a Pro FRS which is lower stack and uglier but functionally identical to the Gusset.

I've just gone to a Sunline V1 from a Thomson 25.4 x 50mm, can't notice the difference. I still have my 50mm Thommy if you want to buy it for £35 posted.

That's what he's got currently, as he's borrowed it from me!

Gotta be said there aren't too many nice 60mm stems out there are there... Lots of 50mm's, quite a few 65's, but not many 60's... I bought that cheap 60mm stem just to check the fit, decided the length was for me, then thought I'd just buy a nicer one. To be fair, it's well made, very light (like 120g light!), seems plenty tough enough, and even looks ok. So it's not getting replaced any time soon! You can forget the old Keith Bontrager addage of "light/strong/cheap, pick two" as this stem really is all 3...

Queue a text message tomorrow of "sorry mate, I've broken your stem!" from someone... 😉
