Love the m-109 but its £3000 for 2015!!

...and it's now got a carbon frame, carbon rims, full XT etc... Which kinda justifies the price hike!

There is stock of 2014 Whytes out there if an Ally M-109 more wallet friendly, you may even bag a bargain if you're happy with an outgoing model!

For me it's the T-129 every time though. Such a capable all rounder.

You should get some good deals on trances as it's last year of the 29ers. I liked it when test ridden last year but 2014 colours are gopping.

Anthem is a great all rounder IMO.

It's personal, I tested whytes and hated both v Spesh epic (brilliant) and camber evo (ditto)

Drop me an email (in my profile) if you're interested, depending on size, possibility I could help you find a 2014 M-109...

I'm loving the new 2015 T-129s in that bright neon green! Looks amazing...

Hammerhead Thumper. Have no idea how much they are, or if you can even buy them here, but I had a shot of a New Zealander friends last year, and it was an absolute hoot.

Mrs hoppy got an m-109 for £2K, it's nice in a rugged xc kinda way, previously she had a t129s which is pretty good also, very well set up as a trail bike and you don't really need to change anything from standard.

I went for a self build codeine with pike rct3s, hope hoops and an xt/slx/one up drive train, it'd be possible to build it up for around £2k with the pike rcs that are £300ish, Deore/slx drivetrain and sensible wheels & finishing kit.

I built an Anthem x29er up front he frame, and it was was a great bike. Super fast XC / marathon bike which was reasonably capable downhill too.

I now ride a Scott Genius 910 though....and its the best do everything bike I've ever ridden.

Scott make some seriously good bikes. Well worth a look

The canyon spectral 29 looks good too. Tweeks did have a Transition Bandit 29er in the sale a bit ago, don't know if it's still there. If you're not completely set on 29, if I was buying now I'd seriously be looking at the bird cycleworks full suss too.

Another vote for a Whyte. After a lot of research I've just purchased a 2014 M109c, my first 29er. Went for a ride today and I'm seriously impressed, it's very, very fast.

There's been a lovely looking Turner Sultan on the classifieds that I'd buy if I had your budget.

And no I'm not connected to the guy selling it.

T129 is great value compared with some of the competition and a great concept but didn't really hang together, for me, felt like the front end off a trailbike and the back off an xc bike basically. A bit confused. But still kinda cool- get a testride if you can.

pasty's carbon SJ is over budget, but you can get a Alu one for £2000 - www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Stumpjumper-FSR-Comp-Evo-Mountain-Bike-2014-Full-Suspension-MTB_65852.htm

Don't buy a Trance X, I am massively disappointed in mine. Suspension is fine but it is so low that get half a degree off vertical and your pedal crashes down. I was looking at a Turner originally and wish I had put my hand in my pocket rather than go for the cheaper option.

My opinion.....

I had an M109S and in my opinion you would be better off with the T129.

Reason? I just felt that the M109 could have done with the extra travel that the T129 has. I’m not a rider into jumps or anything like that but do enjoy the odd technical descent and regularly used up all the travel on the M109.

In the end I sold it this year and now have a Ripley with 140mm travel up front and 120mm at the rear.

The new Orange Segment is well worth a look. Personally I've just bought a spesh stumpjumper 29 and cant fault it. The Enduro 29, Camber or Epic are well worth a look too depending on what kind of riding you want to do. Specialized all the wa for me.
