What's the 'go to' 29er trail rim these days?

Ability to go Tubeless and being reasonably light are just about all of my requirements.

Stans Arch Ex?

Depends what you mean by light but isn't the standard answer "Flows"?

That's what I have on my 29er trail bike.

I have been using WTB ST i25's for a while on the 29er HT and am really happy with them to point where I am using them on a 29er Full Sus build. Not as light as a Stans, but cheaper at £33 each and pretty bomb proof!

I think Flows might be over kill. The wheels would initially go on a rigid On One Inbred then may be a Cotic Solaris based, front suss, trail bike.... if I come into some money 😀

How wide do you want to go?

DT Swiss XM 481's are lighter than Flows and 30 mm internal.

If you're not bothered about width then the XM 401's are lighter again and 22.5 mm width.

Before you say Flows are overkill, check out the Cotic Website for the Solaris 2 development history.

I reckon the new Easton Arc rims in 27mm and 30mm internal widths are lightweight and a bargain compared with the heavier WTB Asym and carbon alternatives.

I've ordered a 650b 27mm and a 29er 30mm to make a chubby '79er' with my rigid Salsa frame. 😀

WTB KOM i25 is another option. Same weight as arch ex, a bit wider, good tubeless setup.

Ryde Trace Trail or Trace Enduro are still our favourites, albeit there are many more to choose from these days. The Easton rims do look excellent but they're a bit heavier width-for-width than the Trace and I'm not seeing any other major advantages.

WTB KOM i25 on the full sus and WTB KOM i23 on the hardtail here, good weight and width. Got mine from pedals in Edinburgh.

Not sure what you mean.... I've looked and see no mention of Stans.

WTB KOM i25 look like a good choice, just got to find them at the best price

I think WTB is Hotlines so CRC are generally the cheapest. That said my LBS have been able to price match both time. 😀

I'm running i23's at the moment. No problems with them, also had Mavic XM719 and also happy with them

Seems like DT and WTB are the good choices now, Stans have stood still a bit... My Frequency i25 was bloody brilliant, strong like ox- a little heavier than a Flow but a lot tougher. It's clever what tehy've done I think, the KOM and the Frequency share exactly the same dimensions but one's strong and one's light. DT options look ace too but I'm going to stick with what I know with a set of i25 Frequencies, which won't be light but will be hard as nails.

Flows were great on my Inbred. White are V cheap at Merlin, alone or on Deores.

I got a pair of DT Swiss XM481 rims and had them built onto some Hope Evo's before Xmas. So far they are superb, stiff, light and wide. Best price was from r2-bike.com, by a long shot.

SuperStar DS25s are good value. Been running them on my Fortitude and they've taken a hammering with no bother.

Easton arcs were tempting when I got them, but twice the price for some weight advantage (and width).

About to build up some POG DB-X50s. I guess that's not what you're after though.

WEIGHT: 465g
HOLE: 32
COLOR: Black
INNER RIM WIDTH: 25mm
ERD: 600
RIM SIZE DESIGNATION: 622x25c
A UST-compliant inner rim profile provides standards-driven consistency while a tape and sealant system eliminates precious rotational weight.A UST-compliant inner rim profile provides standards-driven consistency while a tape and sealant system eliminates precious rotational weight.

We've built and sold a lot of these and not seen a single one back yet. Solid rims.

...er.. what rim is this? Googling the decription points to WTB KOMs, which is a good job as there are now two of them sitting under my desk 😀
