Just made the jump to ‘grown up’ wheels just in time for the shitslopfest. I had a RRP ProGuard on the last 27.5 bike but found the crap still hit my face until the bodged an extender for it. What’s the best option that won’t require me fudging it to stay filth-free? It’s sadly not an option to have a bolt-on version…
mudhugger
The crud xl works but for me rattled. Now on RRP max which provides as good protection but also protects stanchions from crap which the crud doesn't.
RRP progaurd max here too, really good coverage.
Mudhugger is the best I've used by miles but the RRP one looks the same.
What are people's thoughts on bolt-on vs. cable-tie-on on the RRP guards?
riding glasses and an RRP enduroguard, never felt the need for more

I might be wrong but i think the bolt on version is slightly shorter than the cable-tie one. I swapped a bolt on for a cable-tie one with a friend and although it doesn't look as neat the coverage is much better.
In Mudhugger world, the bolt-on is awesome, but maybe could do with being a few cm longer. I have been hit in the chest a few times by blobs of mud but only a few times. It's not a spray issue, my glasses and face always come back clean.
RRP Proguard Mini gets left on year round.
Occasionally feel like i would like the Max but not enough to swap.

Cheers. I assumed as much with the sizes - the bolt-on comes in standard and mini, and the normal one standard and max... I assume (despite familiarity with the bike industry 😄) that the standards are a similar size. Couldn't see the lengths anywhere.
Just wondered if the bolt-on gave a better "seal" around the fork, as keeping crap off the stanchions is one reason I want one.
The RRP ProGuard is way better quality than the Mudhugger, but I had to swap to the Mudhugger Evo as the crown of the Pike drops below the arch at full travel.
Happy with the RRP front guards, bolt on if possible, but the zip tie version is fine
I had a Mudhugger Evo on my Pike and now an RRP ProGuard Max on my Mezzer. The ProGuard has the edge for finish but they're both great.
I ride where cows shit so it stays on all year round!
Mucky Nutz MugGuard.
