my brand x 150mm isn’t quite enough. Is the brand x 170mm a good choice? One Up? Funn? What else is there now?
want low stack height and not silly expensive.
thanks
I’ve been running the 170 One up for last 6 months
Great bit of kit,
I've got the Revive post. Expensive up front, but given it can be serviced at home and small parts are readily available should they be needed, it could well be the cheapest long term.
Brand X + Bontrager Lever or convert an old front shifter into a lever (see youtube for video)
My 175mm KS Lev is coming up for a year old and has been faultless so far.
My OneUp has been totally fit and forget. Love it.
Ive just fitted the 170mm 34.9 PNW Bachelor to my bike, ordered it sunday last week and it was shipped and arrived wednesday from America with no extra charges from HMRC or DHL.
Bank Statement is showing £250ish including postage, which is slightly steep but it does include the PNW loam lever which retails for £65 on its own. I've used a few posts (Spesh, Reverb, Crankbros) and the action on this post is so light going up or down its really nice to use. Looks really well made and install wasnt an absolute ball ache like other posts.
Been using the one up since June last year and it hasn’t missed a beat yet.
Frame dependent, the OneUp might not work due to it needing the outer to move and not the inner like everything else. I couldn't get mine to work with my FlareMAX and when speaking to them they eluded that there were issues with some Giant's and others. To be fair to them they where really helpful when speaking to them and it seemed a very nice post.
Mine is working perfectly on a FlareMax, but @fathomer is right, there needs to be enough space for it to work.
more space?
170mm Brand X here, and very happy so far - especially at £120.00! I also find the standard lever fine, so until it breaks (hopefully never!) that's another cost I don't have to factor in.
Got an E thirteen on my new Jeffsy. Not had it long but feels good. Reassured that it's fully rebuildable and is just a big coil spring inside!
more space?
Yes, kind of. As @fathomer says, the OneUp dropper works in a slightly unusual way in that it is the outer pushing up against a stop that activates it, rather than an inner cable pulling a lever. So there needs to be enough slack cable for that to happen. Bikes (like the FlareMax) with a pivot that goes through the seat tube can be a problem if you end up with the cable having to make a tight turn around the pivot just before the post. If (as in my case) you don't then everything works fine, but I'm not sure exactly how much "space" is required.
I have a couple of the BikeYoke Revive 185 posts. They are expensive but really nicely made, work really well and I'm hoping their cunning design will mean they require less servicing and last longer. Always happy to pay for more expensive kit if it lasts longer and is thus cheaper in the long-run (whilst also causing less waste from binning old products and buying new ones). Fingers crossed!
I've been using a 175mm KS on my Rallon for a little over a year and it's been faultless. To be fair I have two other KS posts of different lengths which have been in use for several years longer and haven't had any issues with them either.
I've got a pair of 170mm reverbs.
2 years, one bleed and they both work fine.
Been using the 170mm BrandX since October last year - no dramas.
Now paired up to a OneUp lever.
