You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My mate and I did the WHW a couple of weeks ago, north to south.
It pretty much rained most of the time, but it was still a fantastic 3 days. Worst bits were the climb out of Kinlochleven, not good after a couple of Guinness, 😕 and the Loch Lomond final 6 miles to Inversnaid was a nightmare. We considered the ferry at this point, but after a phonecall to the Inversnaid hotel, they couldn't confirm whether a ferry would be available to get back across! So we pressed on. Lots of bike carrying and pushing, but it was a good challenge. To be honest I would have been gutted if we'd taken the road option. 🙄
All in, the train to Fort Bill from West Lothian, and the 3 nights of accomodation cost us about £105.
In summary, a great adventure and highly recommended. 😀
The kit. Changed the jacket for one slightly lighter. Something I regretted later.

We would have had a nightmare with walkers if we hadn't tackled them head on. For this reason alone I would never do it Northways.

Bunkhouse at Bridge of Orchy. Converted into a Chinese laundry! 😐

Bunkhouse at Inversnaid. Fantastic here, but a hell of a climb from the side of Loch Lomond after carrying a bike for hours!

Kev drew the short straw at the finish, so he got the coffees/muffins in, I watched the bikes! 😀

looks good, was up that way recently and the WHW is something i fancy doing. rather have wet conditions like you got than the midges too!!
To be honest the weather was bearable most of the day, but by mid afternoon it kinda gets a bit depressing! 😆
We had a bit of sun on the last day and the midges turned up in big mobs! 🙄
Good pics, I'm getting dejavu, we just finished it Saturday there. Similar weather to you by looks of it, did in other direction tho. Wind at our backs most days so probably right call for us.
Not so many pics as tbh with the rain and wind mostly it was head down and keep going. Agree with the Inversnaid hike a bike comment, it was a bit of a trek.
Not sure I'd want to do the whole thing again but some buts were ace and worth doing again. Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven gave us some great descents. Despite the hike a bike there were parts of the Loch Lomond riding that were real nice, just a bit stop start.
Kinlochleven to Fort Wm was probably the hardest bit.
Hi there very nice pics I am planning the exact same trip in the exact same direction this September by the looks of it I will be staying in the same bunkhouses as yourself to. Any advice you can give me would be very helpfull such as the hard part along lock lomand and did you find it nesacary to take extra brake pads etc thanks
Cool!
WTF is that square thing on the breakfast plate though?
And did they really supply you with half a sausage?
That will be a slice and I think the links has had a bite taken out of it. 😆
square sossij!
square sausage/black pudding and egg rolls are good.
>WTF is that square thing on the breakfast plate though<
Hellish thing - Lorne sausage. Doubles as a tyre boot if cooked for long enough. I suspect that black pudding might even be healthier
Good effort lads.
