You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Well it didn't happen before and there's still a chance it won't happen again. But the plan is to use my 1 week use it or lose it holiday to do WSM to Eastbourne. Mid March.
Over 6 days, so 40 miles per day, B&B, as camp sites are shut. Pugsley or fixed Karate Monkey, mid March (so what could go wrong), then train back.
Anyone done any of the bits?

Done the whole thing a few yrs back, over 6 days also. Camping/hostel accomodation but that was in May so sites all open.
Great ride, would love to do it again.
So apart from the hills. I assume it's a tad tricky if moist.........
I attempted it over three days a couple of years ago (the wet summer of 2012) - it was wet, everything was massively overgrown and it was hellish. As a storm came in on day two, I bailed and headed home on the train.
Make sure the weather has been dry for a while, and in some ways March would be okay as the hedgerows are less likely to be taking over the bridleways.
However, it could be a lovely ride and one I definitely want to complete at some point in the future.
40 miles a day? What you gonna do the rest of the morning? 😉
Eat cake..............I think 40 miles a day for 6 days on either the fixed gear Karate Monkey or SS Pugsley will do nicely.....
The price of B&Bs,(as capsites are closed) may mean change of plan.....
Why not Sarn Helen instead?
I've been waiting for appropriate weather and family conditions to attempt a 2 day bash at the Wessex way...
One can dream!

Did this many years ago. 96 I think. Really enjoyed it but it's quick going and you'll finish early in the day if you plan 40 miles a day. We planned on 50 miles or so and a couple of days we were at our b&b by lunchtime.
Pete. What time of year was that?
Sarn Helen Trail. Not heard of it, til I looked it, looks possible. What's the surfaces like? Isn't the bottom half like a gravel dash?
Flashes, I'm pretty sure it was July when I did it and it was dry and warm. I suppose if you go earlier in the year it could be slower going.
You will have to balance dryness with nettle growth. Cut backs at HCC have seen less nettle bashing lately
Lots of options on Sarn Helen, lower bit can be all Forrest trails if you like but it's easy to spice it up a bit
I found a useful link with a 6 day ride complete with hostels, etc.
Plus I could catch a train from Newport to Colwyn Bay and I've a mate that lives in Swansea......
You could always refuel at the Uplands Diner in Swansea (check out the Beast
