Wow absolutely stunning great weather Saturday followed by typical Scottish weather on Sunday. Was a recce for a HT550 attempt next May, I think I would rather have not sampled to be fair but I did enjoy it with a great set of lads, with one who has never bike packed before and his longest ride on an mtb was 35 miles 🙂 he was a world of pain today.
Respect to the people that race the HT550 this section in the dark would be a nightmare!

Bivvied about 4 miles out of Kylesku as we ate at the hotel about 8.30pm found a road running down to a fish farm with flat dry concrete. Early start to get food , Drumbeg store was closed and Lochinver was closed everything but we got a owner at the Hotel to make us some cheese and ham toasties at 10am

I bet on fat bikes you could ride nearly all the way from Lochinver to Ledmore Junction.........

If it was not for the horrific winds we might have but we played safe on a lot of the route, and we were only semiphat 😉

Nice one Rich. Done that loop twice this year: a recce on the May Day BH weekend and the HT550 itself. You get to Gobernuisgach Lodge thinking "What's all the fuss about?" Hmm. As Steve says it was pretty dry earlier this year.

Eating at the Kylesku? Bloody hell, postmen get paid far too much these days 😆
