You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
No doubt there are a few from here turning up, might even be some competing.
I'll be there Friday mid-afternoon setting up in Pit No.83 with a team mate to the left and another to the right, come along and say 'ello.
I'll be there. Bloke with the big hair, bushy beard, rusty Transit and the singlespeed (had to add the Transit bit in or that could have been any of us)
Arriving Thursday afternoon some time.
I'll be there performing the function of mobile chicane and trying desperately not to be dead last.
Trimmed the beard back to reduce weight. 🙂
Pit 21 next to Simon in Pit 22
Still trying to decide whether I should use gears for once.
I'm going. Will be joining epicyclo as a mobile chicane. My aim is to not come last. In the Team JMC pit which is going to be difficult to miss as there are 13 of us riding. Arriving either late Thursday or early Friday. Big motorhome which will hopefully be parked somewhere near JMC pit. Come say hi.
Two of my friends are doing it. They live near Barcelona. They drove up through France to the shuttle, got to Dover and then drove straight up to Fort Bill through Storm Callum! Apparently they wanted to have a look at the course in bad weather... So, if you see two Catalans on singlepeeds flying along then it'll be Marcal and Carolina. They are ace.
That Terrahawk fella and the rest of the JMC team are up too. Good luck to all. Hope the weather is kind.
Not just singlespeed, Carolina is riding rigid too which is just nuts!

Zoikes
There's a Portuguese chap going who has bike packed his way there form Glasgow Airport, he did the same at the Euros (granted not from Glasgow) and has his pits set up with a tiny bike-packing tent!!
good luck to all .
will be watching from afar , stuck at work.
First lap results in they are flying.
im going to predict that all bar 4 of the current top 10 will have an extended break of 2hrs or more before the end of th event.
I'm out.
On my 3rd lap I gashed my left knee in 2 places, 5 & 6 cm long cuts, plenty blood because of blood thinners. That was through 2 layers of cloth as I was wearing long trousers, and I'm glad I wasn't wearing shorts.
Cuts not the main problem once the blood stopped, but knee is painful to bend and swollen, ie hurts to pedal.
I was enjoying the course especially the climbs and riding to schedule.
There's some great descents apart from some bits too heroic for a fossil on a rigid bike.
I was hoping to get back on the bike after resting the knee, but it's still stiff and sore (but not as bad).
However I got to watch how the world's finest ride up close and that's a privilege.
Disappointed because that's probably my last WEMBO.
Bad luck epic cyclo 🙁
I’m hovering around putting this event on my bucket list... but have a few back issues I need to test before I can ride for 24hrs again.
steve day is smashing it knocking on the back door of a podium in the main event never mind SS
Steve has it.
Absolutely superb effort in effing horrendous conditions. It looked like there were more than a few suffering hypothermia.
Various people from around the world I talked to reckoned it was the toughest course they have ridden, so that makes Steve's win even more impressive.
Should make it clear Steve is singlespeed winner.
But he's also 3rd overall, and only 2 laps behind overall winner.
terrahawk has done a really good effort too.
Oh, and despite my enforced withdrawal, I wasn't dead last. 🙂
Well that was bloody brutal, frankly the toughest course I've ever ridden.
"frankly the toughest course I’ve ever ridden."
I wasnt there obviously but this is something ive said about every relentless ive ever done , its consistently the hardest 24 ive ever done.
Had two Australian friends who raced, Kate Pengalese and Kevin Skidmore. Looked like a bloody hard race, cold and wet as well. The joys of scotland.
Just home after a 700 mile round trip. Absolutely brilliant course. Brutal but involving. Was going great til 4 laps in about 5pm I went down on the second part of the first downhill. Front wheel washed out and I went down so fast I was still holding the bars. Winded and down on my ribs/ shoulder. Got back to pits and medic on our team decided nothing was bust so I went back out. Had a few decent laps but after 11 laps I was in some real pain and in danger of doing some real damage if I came off again so jacked at 3:30am. Gutted as my legs and head felt great. Weather was awful for the last few hours and chapeau to everyone riding. Getting past by Cory Wallace et al was an honour!!!.

Aye, WEMBO is a good place to get your deficiencies highlighted on a bike. 🙂
