planning a mtb trip to wales with my bro....XC stuff not DH....
we love singletrack
hate endless fire road climbs for not much downhill single track reward
love nice place to crash at the end of the night with good food.
we have ridden AFAN,coed y brenin, betsw y coed
ideas, suggestions and opinions??
Why BOOOM?
Nant yr Arian?
And: why not "boom"?
Penmachno and Nant-yr-Aran would be on my welsh trail centre list - BOING
Your right, WELSH MTB is definitely worth shouting about.
Brecon Beacons, Kington (not quite Wales), Elan Valley
Welsh MTB is good but I'm still not getting boom... 😕
we love singletrack
Current issue of ST mag - Doethie Valley route - one of the best pieces of singletrack going in Wales IMO.
Brechfa! There's a really good bunkhouse just up the road too. http://www.brechfa-bunkhouse.com/ SHABBA!
HEAR ME NOW
Brechfa rocks muchly, as does Afan, but the latter can be rather busy at times.
So, my tips would be Brechfa or Machynlleth
FAST FORWARD SELECTA!
Brechfa definately.
That Dothie valley route in STW is excellent. However it drains very badly and should be saved for the summer, ideally after a couple of weeks of dry weather.

So that's never then? 😀
Sometimes responses can be so predictable...(and it makes me chuckle) Still, putting BOOOM! in the title grabbed my attention.
Brechfa.

IMO you should never expect to get through the Doethie Valley and stay dry. Parts of the track run through river beds so you will get damp and muddy even during a heatwave.
It is a great route all year round, but I prefer it during the winter months when it is not overgrown with ferns.
Shhhh...some of us have kids sleeping!
Nant yr Arian would be just up your street
POW!!
+1 Nant yr Arian
HAMMER TIME
TrAiL CeNtReS or NaTuRaL?
KERPOW!
pen-to-the-mach-to-the-no Y'ALL!
bwm
brap brap...?
+1 for Nant y Arian and Penmachno, with some Coed Y brenin on the side. May I humbly add a "SCHERWING"
Nostoc, very clever!
+1 Nant y Arian and drop in for a quick Cwmcarn on the way back! both are beautiful rides!
Gonna mix it up with a "BOING"!
yes, Wales is now completely covered by one massive trail centre, all proper mountains have been officially removed and replaced by fire road climbs marked with frowny faces on maps.
PTANG!!
BOOM FTW. WIN.
LOL.
im off to afan tomorrow. chika chikka wah wah
