I've had a look through some of the older posts which didn't have too much info. And this maybe a good place to share routes? I've got use of a camper van for this weekend and wanting to do a few gravel loops somewhere in Wales. I realise there isn't much in the South so thinking Mid and possibly North Wales routes? Preferably in the 100km region. Would be great for people to share what they have! So far I've got come across GPXs for 2019 Gritfest and the Mawddach Big 8 loops.

Cheers

John

I used to ride the Flintshire Challenge back in the day (90's onwards) the route is still showing on here https://flattyres-mtb.co.uk/route-guides/north-wales-mtb-routes/the-clwydian-challenge/
Easily do-able on a Gravel bike, loads of great tracks/on and off road sections. I remember the lads from Alf jones cycles doing this on their cycle cross bikes a few times.

Go to Rhayader - miles and miles of quiet lanes and gravel around the Elan Valley and beyond

@molgrips That was just what a few of the older posts on here seemed to suggest. If you have some routes or suggestions please do add them in here it would be much appreciated!

If you haven't got a destination in mind then I'd go with Mid Wales, but there is bags of riding down South. In the SE it is not as far from human habitation, for sure, but there are some cracking gravel trails all the same.

Seven Snowdonia routes here, though you have to pay for access to the GX files: https://www.wheelgoodtimes.com/eryri-360

Plenty in South Wales leading through to mid Wales. I did a 200+km loop from Merthyr to Llyn Brianne and back last week that'd be perfectly do-able on a gravel bike, including this (climb to and) descent from the 700m contour.

Loads to go at round Llanwrytd Wells and Llandovery, just look at the maps and get planning.

There’s loads either in the dyfi forest or south of Machynlleth towards Glaslyn, Anglers retreat and over to Nant y Moch / Nant yr Arian

Get yourself to one end of Snowdonia or the other and just start exploring tbh.

A great South Wales route:

Yeah you'll need 50c tyres or similar for that, I reckon, unless you're very small and light.
