Apologies if we've already done this one (if so I missed it):
What do you reckon?
Raises awareness so its good in my opinion. My wifes horse is fine around bike, but even she is not immune to a hooligan belting round a blind corner.
Should have been the horse rider falling and squashed under the horse to get the message home though.
Makes a good point in a way. Sadly I now see a situation where you might end up with all kinds of "traffic calming" measure at trail-centres...
Quite a few of the trail centres have little switch back gate things before you hit bridleways/forest roads to slow you down anyway. Not a bad wee video. Dont know how his through axle front wheel came off though!
I reckon they were a bit over-biked.
What trail centre btw?
wowsers his leg came off
It's not a good advert for thru-axles either 😕
Could be wrong, but looks like the opening section of Nant-y-arian?
defo Nant-y-arian.
The give way arrows should really be in all directions at once, but otherwise like it! Especially the Grumpy v Happy at the end! 🙂
Personally I thought the through axle front wheel getting thrown across the trail in front of the camera was hilarious.
I'm kind of surprised there aren't more people getting upset at the advice to get off your bike when encountering horses. Has anybody here actually done that (or even had a horse rider ask you to)?
thing with nanty is there is more chance of running into horses on the many bridlepath/row sections than flying out on them at the end of singletrack. the first jumpy section of the vid ends here and IIRC you'd be hard pressed to have too much speed to run uncontrolably into a horse at the point depicted in the vid. Also footpath/row crossings have features to slow you down (more so than just the Warning notices on Pink Heffer @ CyB.
Nothing wrong with a bit of politeness but it's a little annoying when someone shouts at you on a bridle way when you've already slowed down (not the situation in the video). I got yelled at the other day on a 20 ft wide fireroad (the main track round Hawley lake in Farnborough for reference) where i'd called out a greating slowed down to 5mph and rolled past a couple of horses on the otherside of the track.
If a horse is on a shared access path, shouldn't it not be so skittish as to bolt at the first sign of a cyclist?

I've done that on narrow paths without being asked lots of time - simple self preservation! That said if I can ride past slowly outside of horse kicking range i'll do that in preference.
