Howdy Folks,
Wanting to head away for a biking trip over the Easter weekend, looking for some new destinations that I've not ridden before.
Looking down the Wales / England border going from North to South we have: Clwydian Range, Shropshire Hills, Malvern Hills, Wye Valley.
I know Wye Valley has the Forest of Dean and lots of other off piste stuff around. Â Is there any good riding at the other destinations and are the trail conditions OK with all the wet weather we have had recently?
Back up plan is Peak District and routes around the Dark Peak as I think they should hold up OK in currently climate.
Eastridge in Shropshire holds up well and has great trails, if you like enduro kind-of stuff.
Long Mynd not far away for more XC riding with big views.
Black Mountains are on the English Welsh border. Not huge, but feels like real mountain day out.
Long Mynd not far away for more XC riding with big views.
There's also some enduro type trails in the woods behind the glider club.
Also a couple of quite tech descents on the Mynd but maybe not the best idea to try to ride them on a bank holiday weekend...
Loads of stuff around Ludlow. Hopton/Mortimer Forest.
Worth looking at Lower Wye Valley, around Tintern and Redbrook. on both sides of the river 👌
You’re only 15 mins from the FOD there too.
conditions are a little moist right now though
I would add if you like road biking, Shropshire / Welsh Boarders are some of the quietest roads in the country
Thank you all for the suggestions. Â I will have a search on Strava, Trail Forks etc .... for routes at those locations.
