I'm not a particularly aggressive rider, generally preferring to keep my wheels on the ground. Even so, it has occurred to me in the past that enthusiastic zipping down woodland singletrack does run the risk of face/tree or face/ground interface incompatibility issues. Therefore I’m now wondering about the wisdom of purchasing a well vented full face lid. Having a large bonce in both circumference and height this limits choice. I can’t even get a Fox Proframe in large over my ears. I note that the TLD Stage comes in XL which may be just the ticket. Does anyone have any experiences they could share about them? Or Something else that fits a big ol’ noggin?

Met Parachute (mk 2) with fixed chin guard.

As cool as you can get I’d say. The largest one fits my head which seems to be stupidly big (62cm). On my second one now, the first took a few hits.

Ill try find a link…

Blimey, Merlin have the latest one on sale-

TLD Stage is the comfiest FF lid I've owned. Fox Profame comes second.

Leisure lakes have some good prices on the Stage.

Kali Invader - super light and really well ventilated

You may just have to do what I did and try loads of different ones on

Otherwise, all of these can be found in XL or even XXL:

TLD D3

7iDP Project 23

Least Gravity

Bell Transfer

Endura MT500

Fox Rampage

Fox Proframe

Giro Insurgent

TLD Stage

Ta. Plenty to chew on there. I don't think Fox lids come in XL, I can't see it on their website at least. Off to a bike shop this pm to see what they have and/or what fits...

64cm circumference here. I have a fox from a number of years ago that just about fit (although it's not very comfortable).

I'd imagine troy lee would be good as the open face helmet fits me very nicely

63cm head here, I've got a Bell Super DH that fits well.

Although I've got to say, most of the time I use it open faced.

I’ve got a big heed @ 63cm. Very happy with my TLD Stage I’ve had for a few years now.

I’ve got a big head and struggle to find helmets that fit but I tried on the Endura full face and it was really roomy. I actually needed the padding and not to gently sand some of the EPS foam away (don’t do this at home kids)   It was light as well.

IXS Trigger for me - it weighs the same as a tin of beans and really well-vented.

I've been wearing my for 2yrs now including summer (and I get really hot when pedaling) and i wouldn't go back to an open-face for mixed trail riding. I might have an odd shaped head as most FF fitted really poorly, but the Trigger has a adjustable ratchet like a an open-face so i can get it snug.

Bit the bullet and purchased a Fox Proframe RS from Leisure Lakes. The matte black ones are reduced to £150 from £309! The fit is good, the boa adjustment is just the job. I found the TLD Stage felt too small, the chin bar sat too close to my face, the side coverage didn't seem to come down far enough* and it didn't quite feel the premium product that the list price suggests. The Proframe is in L, the only very slight issue is that because my head is tall I have to run the chinstrap as long as possible. Otherwise, very pleased, it feels quality and looks a bit Darth Vadery so that's good!

*obviously your head shape may vary! 20231209_104510-01
