Driving Range Rover of course!

He took offence to me shouting idiot at him as he was over taking a cyclist on the wrong side of a blind bend.

Then turned his car around, followed me for a mile, tried to make me stop twice by overtaking and slamming his brakes on. The second time I hit his wing mirror. He then followed me for another mile into town and then overtook, got out of his car and pushed me off my bike.
Then stood over me ranting that I was at fault, and he'd done nothing wrong!

All the while his teenage daughter was hanging out of the passenger window shouting 'I'm filming this so we've got proof.'

I just got on my bike and rode off, may have sworn at him bit!

No camera, so didn't get reg. No damage done, apart from a few bramble scratches on my arm.

I really hope they go to the police with proof of him assaulting me 😆

TL:DR - Range Rover driver is a dick and pushed me off my bike. Doesn't think he's in the wrong.

Someone needs to make a cheap camera that fits on clothing or just in a pocket that you can turn on with single press, doesn't need to be high quality but would be useful in such circumstances. Might start taking my hero session out with me.

Flat pedals ftw.

It's a hell of a lot easier to defend yourself when you're not on plastic bottomed disco slippers.

Was on the gravel bike, so MTB shoes.
Would have been ok, but I was sideways in a bramble bush!
Big fella too - looked a bit farmerish.
Not quite what I needed at the end of a 110km road and gravel ride 😉

If the assault took place in town there's a good chance someone has cctv footage. It might be worth looking to see where there are cameras.

If not, keep an eye out for the car next time you're in town. Frozen sausages in the exhaust pipe.

Right at the edge of a little Devon town, unlikely to be CCTV at that spot unfortunately.

Chances are it's a local. Morons tend to be creatures of habit, so he'll be back in town around the same time next weekend.

Personally I would have rung 999, mentioned that they filmed the assault, as it's Devon and no reg you are not likely to get immediate attention but worth getting it logged

Lack of reg number a school boy error

The daughters behaviour indicates that they have done similar before

Absolutely report it to the Police. This isn't shit driving, this is assault.

CCTV somewhere will show the vehicle at the time stated to identify it, though the idiot daughter may post it was n social media.

Almost exact same circumstances happened to me 10 years ago. Distinctive personalised plate so reported it to the Police. Not sure if he was already known but they were on it straight away, interviewed him and issued a caution. As it was explained to me, if he was done for anything else in the next year or so, then this would be taken into account.

Copper also said that no matter what verbals we'd got into, the "first one to touch the other loses"

All that just because somebody shouted idiot at him. Just goes to show you never know what nutters are behind the wheel of any car you shout at or gesture to. Doesn't stop me gesturing but I do get into a couple of altercations a year, last one being a week ago. But instead of his partner filming it she was trying to disappear into the seat with embarrassment.

Tried 101, no answer, I suspect they're rammed due to the nice weather and people dobbing in neighbours having BBQs.

Online 101 chat the same, no operators available.

*Shrugs* I tried!

I imagine they'd do nowt unfortunately, no reg means it's impossible to trace the ****er.

You can use the online reporting process. Here's the link:

Hope they can help you.

Happened to me about 10 years ago in Midhurst, Sussex one Saturday morning - fortunately an off-duty policeman was cycling by to witness driver punching me (didn't see me trying to kick him in the nuts, but he was so fat I only got his under-belly!). He tried to deny/allege self defence / the whole 9 yards - he pleaded the day before court and he got a £700 for his troubles.

All the while his teenage daughter was hanging out of the passenger window shouting ‘I’m filming this so we’ve got proof.’

Maybe it was his "niece".

I don't see the point now. Without a reg it's just one of many stupidly large, black 4x4 cars on the road.
Even in the miraculous event they did identify him, without CCTV or witnesses it's just my word against his.

Of course if I ever see him again I'll be hammering frozen sausages (not sure where mind) like there's no tomorrow.

I've a very similar incident from last weekend, awaiting police interview for tomorrow before he is likely charged with assault and driving without due care and attention.

We have photo and video from independent witnessed, and I've photo of them getting in the car, including clear faces and reg number.

The point is that if you don't report it then he's got away with it. He might still, but equally the local police might know exactly who you mean.

Whatever the bad behaviour is, it only takes a couple of incidents and it becomes normalised. The fact his 'daughter' isn't shocked and is filming it instead makes me thing it's become normalised already, ie: not out of character.

You owe it to the rest of us to spend 10 mins on an online form. In fact, it won't even take that long, you can cut and paste the report you wrote for us.

Agreed. When I had a whine on here about the Loch Damh dogs a few weeks ago loads of people piled on to tell me to report it to the police, which I did, and they are taking it very seriously and trying to prosecute. Made no difference to me, I'm not planning to go back there. But it was the right thing to do for the general public. ( And indeed there was another attack the next day)

Report it, please.

Yep, defo report. As per my angry gamekeeper thread enough folks persuaded me to contact the police that I did, as who knows this might be normal behaviour for him.

Police comimg tomorrow to take a statement.

And bare in mind, if they find the car all they need to do is look on the daughters phone!

Follow-up for anyone interested.

Spoke to a nice policeman on the phone a couple of days ago.
Very sympathetic, offered me victim support, I said I was fine (!).
Apologies that there wasn't really anything they could do with no reg number, but if a similar incident happened locally with a car/person of the same description then they might speak to me again.

Upshot...I'm looking at small bike cameras.
Any recommendations?

I'd personally invest in judo / karate / boxing lessons. Too much gammon out there in need of tenderizing if you catch my drift.

Chilli tech bullet cam is cheap, works well. Have submitted to vids to police, one doesnt respond the other called to say they were sending driver on awarness course. I got it to try and give me something to focus on rather than get angry after an incident like yours which ended much more 50:50, but was very undignified!

Only negative with bullet cam so far is that the mount is a bit raterly, But for price its excellent I think.

This was a test run, you can still pause to get reg of dozy range rover driver even though its on an angle for example.

Not tried it in darker conditions, yet.

You can report to 101 using an online form, I did that for a incident on Devon and they were.right on it.

I've also got the chilli tech. It's useless in low light. The glare from headlights kills the reg plate.

Surely if its forwards facing that wouldnt be an issue for close passes?
