My left pedal has just developed some play, just not in a way I've seen before. Plastic Nukeproof pedals, less than 6 months use, and they have developed about 5-8mm of play along the axle axis (as shown in photo). No wobble or rotational play though. At a bit of a loss as to what's going on?

The nut holding the cage onto the axle is probably loose

Are they Horizons? As above, just tighten them up. One of mine was doing that from new.

Have you lost the nut out of the end of the pedal?

Not sure. Will need a closer? look tomorrow. It's possible though as I don't remember seeing one there earlier (unless it's really deeply recessed?).

I ask because I lost one after a handful of rides too. I bought a couple of spares and I've made sure they're properly done up.

Well, it was the retaining nut but I hadn't lost it. Didn't think to check for it as it's not visible - recessed a long way into the pedal body. A quick tighten though and all's right again.

Thanks scotroutes!
