I've got a Weeride, for MiniMonkey. She just turned one last week, and it's nice out today so I thought I'd give it a go (last time we tried before winter she was far too little).

She fits quite snugly in the seat, the foot doofers are a few clicks down but try as I might I can't get her strapped in properly.

The bottom bits I have to have pretty loose, the top bits are as tight as they go but still slip off her shoulders. It feels like I should be able to move the chest strap to balance it out, but I can't.

Is there something obvious I'm missing? Any pro tips? It didn't help that I had well meaning brother and father in law helping, and that she was a bit grumpy so I'm going to try again tonight but still.

I crossed the shoulder straps over at the back, otherwise they always seemed to slip off.

You do have the stretchy bit that connects the straps behind her rather than in front? Otherwise I’m struggling to picture what the problem could be. Also..... use a big teddy for practice rather than a grumpy child

I used to double wrap the chest strap IIRC. It'll be coming back out of the loft for the second born this summer, I hope it loves it as much as his big sister did!

Ah FFS, I managed to completely miss the bit that links the straps (it was second hand and has been in the loft for a while, plus it was only attached to one strap). That makes more sense how.

Cheers!

Even with that bit the straps still aren’t perfect tbh. The linking bit can slip down so I’ve often found myself shuffling it and the shoulder straps back into position whilst riding along. Better than not having it there though

Pretty sure it'll work a lot better with the strap than without though. Might try tomorrow if the weather's not too bad.

I wrap some velro cable tie around the shoulder straps, allowing it to bind to the strap fabric. This holds them closer together and won’t slip down her back.

Just to echo the above, even with the stretchy Velcro loop the straps still slip so I added another similar loop to the front. I think it’s just a helmet light Velcro strap but does the job 👍🏼

Honestly, try swapping them at the back so they cross over behind your child’s shoulders - it works SO much better!

I'll definitely give the back strap swap a try, sounds sensible. I can then run the strap (not that I can't find another one, but still) at the front for double security.
