You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I haven't posted here for about ten years, then out of the blue, I got tagged in a reply today.
Anyway, it reminded me that I used to run a weekly photo challenge.
The way it worked was we'd have a different theme each week, say, 'Bridge', 'Water', or 'Public art' for example, and you'd have a week to take a photo of your bike on a bridge, next to a river, leaning against a statue or whatever.
The important thing is that the picture is taken that week. It's to get you out riding, not searching through your old photos.
Creative interpretation is encouraged, so 'Bridge' could be the bridge of a ship or a signpost for Bridgnorth.
If you post a picture, you can then suggest next week's topic, or vote for someone else's suggestion.
Any interest?
Let's give it a try by making this the first one of a new series, and we'll start with 'Bridge' as it's a nice easy one.
You've got till midnight on Sunday 23.4.2023 to take a photo of your bike on or under a bridge and post it here.
To summarise the rules then.
1. Take a photo of your bike with something that matches the theme in the picture.
2. Interpret the theme any way you like.
3. Pictures should be taken between the dates in the topic title.
4. If you post a picture you can either suggest a theme for next week's challenge or vote for someone else’s suggestion. First suggestion to get two supporting votes becomes next weeks theme, probably.
5. No limit on number of photos posted.
Wow Graham! Good to see you back.
I am game for some photo challenges on a bike...
Does it have to have a bike in?
That's the idea. It's to get you out and thinking of somewhere different to ride.
Taking the photo this week is the important bit though. If you really can't get your bike in the shot as well as the bridge, that's OK.

Point 1 covers that..
Is it the weekend yet?
Suggestion for next week is summit cairn.

brilliant idea. used to enjoy this in the past.
and welcome back.
I was just thinking that in the original series, someone posted a photo once taken from his bike because he said there were a bunch of glue sniffers hanging around and he didn't want to stop any longer than he had to, so yeah, don't do anything dangerous or risky, but otherwise stick to the rules or else it just becomes a 'Post a photo of anything taken anywhere at any time' challenge.
Welcome back, you've been missed!
Welcome back to the land of the living Graham. Funnily enough I saw your first ride recorded on Strava for some considerable time yesterday. Coincidence? 🙂
PS Hope the old Landie and the Rohloff are still going strong
So, the challenge is to go for a bike ride and take a photo of a bridge, eh?
Weeeellllll, i went fishing and took a photo of a snake, how's that?

Oh dear. I thought the rules were simple enough. Looks like some people are struggling to understand them still.

Things haven't changed much 🙂
I was only thinking about you the other day...then you pop up. Welcome back, and will enjoy this challenge again.
Pretty sure I can see Matt's bike in that Queensferry pic 😉

Are you new here?
😘
Will aim to get a submission for this weekend in, adds an extra dimension to a ride.

and welcome back.
Seconded! Even when I couldn't participate I used to love seeing the pictures and people's creativeness.
Suprisingly sober return ride from Gentlemen's Vinyl Club a bit earlier this morning......

Poster and thread revival!
Always liked it think changes in photo hosting part of the reason died off as did the post history
Welcome back I'm in
Nice loop in the Cotswolds.

First ride back after a hernia op 4weeks ago, took it easy (ish) and found a bridge.

I really enjoyed being out on the bike again, feel a million times better than a few hours ago.
Suffering from a sore big toe are smashing it into a bolder Wednesday night, so a fairly flat, chilled pedal out to this Prototype Bailey Bridge in Christchurch.

Couple of others on the route.

Only one submission, the ride was already planned so had to work with what was already on the route!

The bridge is nothing to write home about but the view, setting and sheer tranquility of where it is made it very memorable. Well, until a hoard of motorbikes enjoying a bit of green landing came by it was!
Whoops this should of been the 3rd bridge picture

Bealach Na Ba on Wednesday
Ah, the Ciochs Nose. I must go back and do it again one day.
Cheers Graham, that got me out first thing before heading up the football 👍

Edit. I give up, sometimes I can post photos... sometimes I can't. There's a picture of a bike and a bridge though, promise 😂
You can just about see the bike! Going to have to get creative if next week's is summit cairns...not many of those in North Tyneside 🤔

@fazzini more East Tyneside but there could fit with the more urban theme of your pic above:

I forgot my camera...
Welcome back G. Hope you're good.
If the rules allow commuter hacks i'll get on this, I haven't touched my MTB for a couple of years.
Revisiting some old routes on my new to me commuting bike

A welcome return to a favourite theme. I’m in, not sure about the idea of summit cairns though, there isn’t many of those on the Cheshire Plains. 🤦🏼♂️🤔
Bridge (remains of)...

@fazzini Spine Road by Weetslade?
I might be offering something similar, but luckily I'm on my travels at the moment:

@thenorthwind can confirm 😁 LH tunnel no broken glass; RH tunnel nothing but broken glass 🤷🏼♂️
otherwise it just becomes come and see my holiday snaps
I was at work for the Murcia Province pics due to arrive on the weekly thread. (It's a hard life).
Been lurking here for a while and this seems like a good place for a first post.

Suggesting boats if cairns hasn't won already.
A couple more bridges today.

not sure about the idea of summit cairns though, there isn’t many of those on the Cheshire Plains
I reckon a trig point is basically a summit cairn. Often one of them knocking about.
A couple in the Wyre Forest

Summit cairns next week then.
This could be a bit tricky for a lot of us, so no need to be too strict. Any sort of summit or cairn should do, or a Trig Point if there's nothing else near you.
Let me have a go at this one.
Long bridge.
looks like I can't share from icloud or my sharing settings are not working - time to read the image posting instructions and maybe create a flickr account...
