Another Friday evening of dog ride and workout ride round the woods. In that horrible in between stage of not really wet but not really dry, just sticky and gritty.

That last pic is very Blair Witch.

I always remember that bloody film on night rides.

Basically I'm afraid of witches ffs.

A very murky Forest of Dean today. Decided to go to the trail centre for a bit of a change from the thick mud I've been experiencing for weeks!

I have never seen so many ebikes! I felt like I was in a minority group 😂

I’m getting over a cold and have spent too much time daydreaming about mtbing so I did about 7k in the Surrey hills pushing my jumping abilities! At least it didn’t work my lungs, but was plenty scary

Headed out for my January BaM at 22:10 on Friday night. Got within a mile of Plan A bivvy spot when I got a rear wheel puncture. I then proceeded to walk passed my spot in the dark, twice. So I fixed the puncture and headed for Plan B.

Ended up kipping in a bird hide, which was nice and roomy.

Thankfully the toilet block at the nature reserve was open when I set out again in the morning, so rather than heading straight home, or to the in-laws, I continued on to Phoenix Cycleworks for a coffee and some cake. Took in a couple of byways and bridleways, some of which were ankle deep liquid mud, which wasn't much fun. The fens are still totally waterlogged.

This was my first bikepacking trip, and also my first "wild" camp in decades. I learned quite a lot, so there's plenty of decisions to make before future BaM's and my planned multi day trip in June.

No ride pics - a local 15km loop around the roads here with mrs_oab on new bike day. Some faffage of bars/stem, tyre pressure and gear indexing.
Bit of a bargain at £150...

Racing at Gorrick this weekend...

84529655-49445388336 .

Time-lapse says 13th but I crossed the line 6 laps in 3:58.43 and sat there recovering as they announced the end of the race, so 12th really but hey.

Had a great "training" race seeing as I have 200km / 10hours of Z2 and Hills in my legs this week.

Lovely trails at Minley this weekend and a good course.

Revisited the sit of a old OTB, where a school mate and I went on our first adventure on the Dawes tracker....about 30 years ago! 😳

No pics and pre-weekend

Should have been racing the Fat Viking race on Saturday. Was on the fat bike in Norway and got blown off 😯 landed really heavily and badly and broke my right collarbone. 😰 Clean fracture but displaced by 3cm - waiting to see what the NHS protocol is as the Norwegian one was not to operate.

Monday night the ski piste machines were out, then it rained heavily then the wind got really strong so they didn’t open the lifts so the piste was sheet ice😱 I had time to think “whoa! I “ then the next thought was “Ouch! That’s ruddy concrete” before I slid about 100m before stopping. I was wearing full mountain boots and even with them I couldn’t kick an edge into the slope
