Life is good. Where you been riding?
I rode into a headwind for a couple of hours, luckily it helped on the way back.
A few hours at Wind Hill this morning. Trails running nicely considering the amount of rain.
JP
Pissing down right now, and gusts of up to 45-50mph forecast for tomorrow. I'm go by to call it in the morning!
If I do go out it'll be an East Devon valley and moorland meander.
Did a couple if laps of the Monkey & Dog on the way home from work on Friday, to be honest it was shit. All the usual braking bumps were ponds and just didn't get into it.
We for a road ride yesterday, it felt way better, stayed nice and dry, but it was cold and very windy. Even chose the road bike although I had to fix a puncture (first in about 5 years) as opposed to another wet & muddy mtb ride!!
Nah,not this weekend. Been lots of rain all week and now snowing pretty hard. Quite a change from last weekend where the Glentress off piste stuff was so dry there was actually dust on my fork stantions..mmfft.
Guess we've entered mud season.
Supposed to be going out for a ride this aft with a couple of mates. Aparently they are going to take me up Butt Hill!!
Aboyne duathlon for me today
Quick 20k shake down yesterday of the bike and my new smurf hat (Carnac from planet X....... Don't recommend. It's cheap but anyone saying their helmets are the same as xyz other brand is deluded --its worth 30 quid not a penny more -wont buy again )

Finaly got this image thing working.
Weather was iffy on saturday so a quick lap of whinlatter. Was a wet and cold ride.
Cannock for me this morning. Was on the trails before 7 and it was snowing. Breaking bump puddles aren’t fun though!
60km ish in the FoD. Way less muddy that expected. Still muddy tho! Warm in the sunshine, and the lesser ridden trails running really well. Reckon the Mini-Enduro is going to be carnage today tho!
Best hardtail ever.

All good rides should end like this. Mates, sunshine, beer 🙂

Can’t believe it’s snowing in Cannock! Really windy and cold here (FoD) but bright blue skies. Won’t be riding anything but the turbo today tho.
Up the local woods with my mate in the dark last..it was a ****ing horror show, slop and mud and water on the trails, it was a chore and we regretted our route choice. That's that route off the choices for a few months.
Mega puddles on top of local hill and nice loop with the wind in my back then the dreaded return with the wind in my face, but so sunny here today
Did a quick loop over the local hill and back. A bit grim weather wise.

The top: didn't hang around as there was another snow squall heading my way.

17km and 500m of ascent.
First time on the bike in about two months and first time at Leeds Urban Bike Park too. Despite chilly winds and 'orrible icy rain it was a grand day out, wasn't as rusty as I thought and the trails there are brilliant.
Just over 50km at Brechfa yesterday; 90 mins on Gower this morning in a half-gale...was moving up hill without pedaling at one point
Mess around in local snowy local woods
The entire weekend has been raining, hailing or sleeting here. Just grim out.
There's an inch of hail on my windowsills right now. 🙁
I did get the BB on my road bike sorted though. It suffered severe injuries in another hailstorm last week that caught me literally a mile from home. By the time I got back I was soaked and frozen to the bone and the bike was caked in ice and slush off the roads.
Wind died down enough for a ride today. Still bloody cold though !

Took a mate for his first mendips ride. Met up with three local guys (I knew two) and saw the digging crew hard at work. Trails there are getting good improvements thanks to local volunteers - it was mucky though!
After a bit of overnight snow, it turned into a lovely morning and I thought I'd take advantage of it. Headed out on the 9ZERO7 towards Glenmore thinking I'd make a loop using the Allt Mor path. It was proper lovely.

By the time I'd got down to Glenmore from here (i.e. about 5 minutes) it had turned into a blizzard. I aborted the Allt Mor idea and headed round the back of Loch Morlich.

I had then planned to head round Loch an Eilean but I couldn't make any progress towards Rothiemurchus Lodge and Piccadilly so turned about and came straight back the Old Logging way. No pogies and the wrong footwear meant I was really chilled by the time I reached home. A salutary lesson in not assuming the winter is over in early March.
Snowed on us at duathlon briefing then the sun came out and it was wonderfully windy.
Still cold but some wonderful snow capped peaks in the Cairngorms was the reward during the event
Pissing down right now, and gusts of up to 45-50mph forecast for tomorrow. I’m go by to call it in the morning!
If I do go out it’ll be an East Devon valley and moorland meander.
My mate bailed, but I went out, and it was a lovely ride in the end.
Bit windy though, and I did it the wrong direction, so the last 6 miles was into the wind. Oof.
27 miles with 3000ft of climbing over the Otter Valley and Woodbury common.
Lovely 😎
Great fun 'training' for the first round of the Scottish XC series next week, did a mixed 50km of tow-path, rooty singletrack at Beecraigs, then fast tailwindy road back home.
Been a while since I've ridden proper MTB, was really enjoying the trails once I learned to back off a little bit and actually choose decent lines instead of smashing into everything!
You coming up to Aberdeen round Ian ?
Im a master now so I can actually race without being lumped into expert despite having been 20kg over the weight I was when I achieved it between now and then
Unlikely! Can't remember what my excuse is, distance or dstes clashing, on of the two.
Cathkin, Beecraigs and Lochore hopefully.
Do you have to qualify for masters? I think I can only ride Sport unless I do well enough then I'd qualify for expert based on age?
Need to check the rules but it used to be that I could not do sport and had to wait till I hit age to get into masters.
Work and injury got in the way it continuing along the path j was on
Headed out in the weather window this afternoon. Bright sun but horrible wind. Though I'd play safe and avoid the mud (turned out I was wrong) by doing a gravel bike ride on my non-gravel Rocket. Met Office said less than 10% chance of rain. Half way round got hit by hail storm with 30mph winds in just a base layer, short sleeved jersey and shorts...
At least the sun came out again after that.
Scratched a long time itch and did the Llandegla Bruise today (black 'n' blue( and indeed red and green))
Nice and sunny but a fair bit of snow around, and damned windy on the uphill.
TBH it was good to get it done but nothing like as much fun as the same venue last weekend with my son. That was proper good fun.
Did cwmcarn, but not the trail centre, first time doing local off piste stuff, was cracking fun in sunshine & hailstorms!
35km with lots of climbing.
Big shout-out to the Club Sandwich at the cwmcarn cafe, was delicious.
Went for an early morning road ride yesterday because I can't be arsed mountain biking in the wet.
The forecast was set for sunny light winds and 6°c. I set my gear out the night before based on this. The morning came and it was lovely, I set off and after about 10 minutes it hosed it down and didn't stop.
I didn't have any wet weather gear on, and the wind was bitter so I headed back after about half an hour, so I only managed 17 miles. It was the first time I'd been out on my road bike for ages so probably better that I eased myself back in, it was also long enough for me to realise that the saddle that came on my bike is horrible and I'll be putting my old spoon on it as soon as I get 10 minutes.
Algarve Bike Challenge for me. Hot weather and wall to wall sunshine. Even had the arm covers out.
Parked up in Llangollen and then rode up to degla, round the black then back to Llangollen via worlds end yesterday, worried a little about the wind but the worst stretch of worlds end seemed to be sheltered so didn't get blown off line thankfully!
I went for a bike fit and watched the hailstone through the window.
Rare Saturday ride for me. The weather was grim as I headed down the A66 but cleared up enough for a great Borrowdale Bash ride.
And if we count Friday morning as weekend eve I was up before work to rattle out Whinlatter North and South on the Unit-
25 miler giving the Frontier a test run, Type 2 Fun

Seemed to go out at the exact wrong time and had my face pounded with horizontal hail, so hid in the woods and cleared/made a trail.
Trail clearance dog walk in Friston for me but it was so windy I suspect that my efforts were in vain as I could hear trees cracking and things dropping as I was walking out.
Driving up to Peebles yesterday for work but binned my initial idea of riding at Glentress in the afternoon due to the horrific forecast so went to Gisburn instead. Feeling smug as I drove in glorious sunshine only to arrive and it start to heavily hail, then snow.
Managed the 1st loop on the red and decided that heading further out in those conditions want clever. Breaking bump puddles with a surface of hail slush meant I couldn't feel my feet by the time I got back to the car at which point the sun came out.
Set off Saturday morning into the teeth of a tempest. Didnt dress appropriately and was soaking within 3 miles and legs were freezing cold. Turned back and binned it. 20 mins later and the sun was out.
Popped out this morning, looked sunny enough, but was minging wet with snowmelt and general clag - sacked it off a bit early.
