I had a big ride in the Dark peak on Tuesday so just one ride this weekend for me, on Sunday night and staying vaguely local in Cheshire but will be followed by some beers 😉

What's on your bank holiday weekend riding list?

Another trip to The Lakes again this weekend. Prob Pooley Bridge, High Street, Boredale Haus, Sandwick, Martindale and back via High Street, unless we add in a little extra. 😉

Fingers crossed the weather plays ball (not checked it yet) but it'll not stop us if it doesn't

Yes it is. Might be tempted to climb back up via Deepdale bridge for another go 😉

Looks like a solo road ride tomorrow morning in the Derbyshire Dales ahead of next weeks FLAB sportive, then hopefully a play at Hicks Lodge with the kids on Sunday, and supporting one of the other FLambassadors with her first social ride Monday morning.

Had a quick razz around Gisburn today which was nice. Childcare duties the rest of the weekend, so maybe a trip from Caton to Morecambe for fish and chips.

I'll be in the Trough Of Bowland this weekend. Sadly I won't have a bike with me as we're going to a wedding.

There'll be plenty of standing around being bored - you could nip out for a couple of hours without anyone noticing.

Looks like my local Trail Pixies have come out of winter hibernation, and have built some rather nice jumps on one of our trails:

Unfortunately, it also looks like someone has already come a cropper on one of the gaps, judging from the broken helmet peak and massive impact divot on the lead edge of the landing ramp....

ouch! 😯

I am hoping I might manage to take my 7 year old on his first proper, not near home night ride doing about half an hour in proper dark riding through the fading light.

I'd like to slip a road ride in too. Road bikes not been out this year and I have a hilly 50miler committed to week after next. 😳

Sowerby Bridge to Manchester via Cragg Vale on the roadie early tomorrow, as part of my training for BHF charity ride.
Not sure but I'll do something on Sunday. Possibly make sure the FS is ok as I'm heading to Antur next weekend.
Just a quick 55 minutes tonight, again on the roadie, to test my new tyres (28s are a revelation over 25s) and to make sure I'd fitted new pads properly in advance of tomorrow's ride.

Hopefully similar (maybe a bit longer) on Sunday. Maybe it's the (rare round here) dry conditions or the few weeks on the turbo with TrainerRoad, but I'm hitting PRs every ride right now. Need to get the rides in before the streak breaks...

After a successful return to commuting by bike I'm taking my cold-ravaged lungs for their first proper off-road ride in 2 months at Llandegla today. Depending how that goes it'll either be the dark peak on Monday, Gisburn, or a local trundle.

The plus side of being off it for 2 months is that I'm like a little kid today, can't wait to go ride!

Off out for a shortish road ride in a bit before going to the rugby.

Sunday I'm at Forest of Dean for the mini enduro. Can't make my mind up if i should stick the Shorty in the front?

Monday, not sure but the wife wants to go mountain biking in the Peak so guess I'll have to oblige 😀

Bunch of pals in town for Ten Under the Ben crashing here this weekend. Just seen them off. In the interests of one upmanship I'm just heading out to do the Corrieyairack Pass from the door. Target do the ride, get home showered and fed, then back to Nevis range prior to the finish.

Another weekend of getting used to the Vitus ready for the trip to Scotland in a few weeks. I've put clips back on too as an experiment so we'll see how that goes.

Not 100% sure it's a good idea yet.

just a standard weekend with small people's sport
local loop, long cafe stop, curry pie and chutney - loving the accuracy of GPS nowadays - 2 visits to the toilets and one to the far corner of the cafe to find a newspaper! (not related)

Nan Bield revenge ride! First and last time riding it me and a friend inadvertently rode via Garburn pass first and hadn't packed adequate food for the extended ride. The hike a bike from small water with no fuel became one of the hardest things I've ever done!

Back to Corryhabbie hill to try and find a route around it that works. Trails were wet and slow and the wind was surprisingly chilly. Fun day out though.

All local white peak runs around family duties, so hopefully between about an 1.5 to 3 odd hours each day over the weekend. It's a tough life 🙂

@mcnultycop What size frame is your Cube and what BB to saddle top measurement, please? Doesn't look much of a drop between the bars and saddle, which might be ideal for weak lower backs like mine.

I repeated my ~25.5 mile ride from midweek, near Marwell Zoo; Lower Upham; Durley; but this time on the racer rather than the skinnified Wazoo. ~5mins quicker with slightly lower gear ratios, but the lower back a little unhappy towards the end, despite the high rise stem.

Don't ask me where the time has gone since getting back at ~1030, it's flown by!

Had my first proper ride in a while on Saturday - 15.5 miles and 2700ft round Ladybower. Devoid of anything resembling fitness, pushed most of the climbs, got cramp, fell off, but had an absolute blast with some mates

Plan A was to ride from Winchelsea beach to Hastings. I'd only researched this from Google Earth but it looked doable.
The tide goes out a long way but on the points 90% of the beach is rocks leaving you very little window of cycling opportunity.
Rather than have a very long scramble over rocks in spd shoes I thought I would head in the direction of Rye instead.
Amazingly the going was firm and child hood memories of getting stuck in the mud over our knees ignored. Until....

[img] [/img]
Luckily it was only up to my shins as I fought my way to the shore.
Knowing what I know from years ago it can get very dodgy. I was merrily going along with the wind at my back then off we slide.

Some amazing pictures in this thread. Haven't managed to get out on the mtb this weekend, but did manage to follow my brother round some of the Surrey Hills on the road bike (Staple, Leith etc.) finishing off with lunch at the top of Box Hill before time trailing it back to west London via Epsom and Kingston.

Nice 60-miler up through the Dales. Some 'interesting' headwinds up Cam Fell. Legs a bit hurty today.

Hired a shockingly clattery Trek Fuel Ex on my first visit to Coed Y Brenin with a mate who used to ride there loads, "back in the day" obviously.

Twice around the MBR trail ended up cramping my knees as the seatpost kept slipping down ever so slightly, taking the shine off an otherwise cracking ride. I'll be going back though, for sure...

No riding this weekend as I did more than enough over the last week 😀

Had a full week off so did:

Cardiff to Cwmcarn and back last Sunday.
Tuesday was the Climachx amd Mach 3 trails.
Wednesday was the Marin Trail (now called Gwydir Mawr).
Thursday was the Beast and Tarw Du at CYB.
Friday was two loops of the red/blacks at Llandegla.

After 150 miles in 6 days my legs couldn't take any more 😀

Did plan some natural stuff in the Clwyds but the weather forecast wasn't playing ball so stuck to the trail centres. Might go for a play at Cwmcarn on Wednesday but right now I would struggle to get up any climbs

Had a belter up Bredon hill today.
I seem to be spending a lot of time on the fatbike of late 😀

Finally got out just after midday, planning to do same route as yesterday, after deciding meteorologists know diddly. But after 110% effort from Fishers Pond to Winters Hill, my legs were spent, not helped by only taking a small water bottle in my jersey pockets instead of having ~1Kg bounce up and down as and when I got out of the saddle! So a shortened, lower gradient homeward leg was called for.

Still, 19 miles is better than not getting out at all considering the bad predictions of rain, plus I was shocked to have such a decent average speed for me considering I did 25 yesterday.

No real plan, so rode around a few footy grounds. Windy home which made the slog uphill a bit more sloggy than normal.

Working most of the weekend, just a local blast this eve - but it was bloody lovely...

I did a solo local ride to Macclesfield forest yesterday (very windy!) and today went to Llandegla for some fun with Mr Pea. Had a good ride despite dodging loose dogs on the trail and people walking with their bikes on the black trails.

Due to childcare, social commitments and a blistering hangover, only got one ride in (well after work on Friday got a couple of hours on the road bike but that doesn't count) and it was a cracker.
Family day out in Grasmere then I pedalled the long way home. Nice.

No pics, but I've managed a long local ride with the kids, all of family_oab to the top of Upper Coul hill, ripped out an ovesize garden hedge, smoked out most of Dunblane with the resulting bonfire, and half installed the new fence... And seemed to have spent half the weekend arguing with recalcitrant kids...

Against all odds I squeezed in a ride the evening. Nowhere special, just a 20 mile spin around the woods on my old CX bike. But it felt bloody great.

Finished my budget eBayed Trek rebuild, new BB/cranks/NW ring, wheels trued, hanger straightened and took it out for a 10 mile shakedown - nothing fell off, and neither did I (first time out on SPDs for years) but still a little work to do tweaking the position.

Ended up with a nice road ride Saturday morning, the Mini Enduro @ Fod on Sunday, which was that dusty it made my throat by the end. Came 52nd of 90 in Masters, not great but felt I rode ok. Then a pretty wet and gritty ride at Cannock with the wife yesterday.

Dropped the car off for a service this morning, was looking good out so threw the bike in the boot to ride home. Was looking so good I decided to head up the Taff Trail for abit and come back home via back lanes. 24 miles instead of 4 😀

@mcnultycop I've gambled on a 58cm for £900 from Rutland last night in their bank holidays sale, reports suggest go a frame size bigger unless you want a lower front end and more drop, fingers crossed it fits! 😀
