Classic Black Mountains loop. Includes scrambling, carrying, pushing, great descents and of course those big skies we've been missing since lockdown.

Quite tired after that. Been riding loads during lockdown but you forget how much harder a big day out is. But oh the beer tasted SO GOOD after we got back 🙂

Nice.

I've not ridden for 3 weeks and have a 28 mile ride in the Peak District with 3700ft of climbing planned for later this week, so thought I'd better get some saddle time in.

Did a bigger loop at covert woods, some of the normal trails and then out further with a couple of hellish climbs, managed 14 miles and 1900ft of climbing in relative comfort.

It did feel hard after no massive rides for a few months. I’ve ridden a lot but all local stuff. You get back into the big hills and doesn’t your body know it!

I think this route is 40km and 1250m of climbing. By the end I was feeling every one of them 😃

It all came together for a fantastic Jacobs Ladder loop last night, finished in the dark after one pint turned to two in Edale and we wobbled up to Hollins Cross.

Nearly 3 weeks since I moved to Speyside, living at the bottom of Ben Rinnes and took the chance to ride south to Glen Livet, pick up the Speyside Way to Tomintoul. Arrived at the top of Carn Daimh to a gaggle of MTB riders to realise I was at the top of the bike trails. Descended down to the cafe and took the road back via Strath Avon.

No bike today, just a run to the top of Ben Rinnes with Esther - great views as far as the Moray Firth

Was supposed to be a big gravel loop around Ardgartan and Arrochar, unfortunately the first climb set the tone, very steep and loose! I had a lower gear or two than the others but there was still a bit of cursing and pushing. Rest of the day followed a similar theme, a good route but much tougher than anticipated so we had to cut it short, even then the last descent was a punishing affair, would have suited an MTB!

That said, my legs felt great and the bike was flying, should go back and ride the full route another time...

Didn’t get out on the bike but took the dog up Helvellyn to scope out a future ride. Trying to talk my mate into it now. 😁

First Scottish covid-19 easement ride.

Was supposed to be a week past Friday (but the weather was pish).

The thought of doing this ride featured heavily in getting me through the lockdown and today not ont lived up to the billing it exceeded it. At times I was overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and by the sounds...

Now we know where Santa spends the summer 🙂

I’m not sure if you’re aware of a tv programme called Game of Thrones but in it there’s a character called Tyrion.

Anyway he is short in stature and makes the point that everyone has a midget joke and they are oh so very funny but in reality there are only 5 (and he’s heard all of them, many, many, many times). That...

😂

Having met Santa, he’s a grumpy sarcastic git. Must be a lack of Sherry out of season!
